Viewing EasyWeb vs Google Site

EasyWeb vs Google Site

User: Guest 10 years ago
Why would I go with EasyWeb over Google Sites? I know Google Sites does not offer total control over object/text positioning like EW, but other that, how can I justify spending $99 per year while Google is totally free. Is there distinct advantages in EW that I'm overlooking?

Google Sites makes pretty basic websites that can't be customized anywhere near what you can do with EasyWeb. They only give you 100MB of free space and then you have to pay as well.

The services are very different.

Google Sites is not even as good as the free versions of online site builders like Weebly and Wix and we all know what these look like.

These are OK if you want a quick, dirty and cheap online presence but cannot be compared to even a basic custom site since they look like a million others.

I don't think $2 per week is a lot to pay to be able to design, publish and maintain a quality website!

I agree with you for the most part. A Google Sites is more basic on the surface. However, If you know your way around Photoshop and take advantage of some of the newer gadgets such as iframe, you can actually put together a rather impressive site. There is a 100MB limit, but if you upload your images on another server (such as Dropbox -free) it is plenty of room. I do hate the fact you can't freely arrange text and objects (very frustrating). Another advantage of a Google Site is the ability to share ownership with your client so they can make the day to day content updates without purchasing any additional software. Having said all that, I do like EasyWeb and will probably buy it, but I can understand why people might go the Google route for and alternate.
