2 "responsive" web site questions.....

User: Mark A. 5 years ago
I'm trying to switch my website over to "responsive" layout and have run into all kinds of issues 2 of which I cannot figure out. Maybe i'm just not looking in the right place.

1) I have gone into my blog and switched all three pages to "responsive" and after paying around somethings work - like the menu and my logo on the top of the page are responsive - but the text block with the blog text is not at all "responsive" - if you make the window too narrow the text goes out of the right side of the window. How to I make the blog text box responsive?

2) Is there anyway to customize the font of a responsive menu? the standard font when displayed on a standard desktop is way too small to comfortably read.

thanks in advance for your help

Hi Mark!

For the first question, Check that the blog posts page is responsive in the Page Settings tab of the Inspector. Then go to the blog post editor window. Go to the bottom part of the screen, the blog post preview window. Select the 'textbox' in this widow and then go to the Metrics Inspector. Check 'Full Width'. Use the Margins option in the metrics inspector to give the textbox left and right margins. It should now be responsive when previewed/published.

For the second question, you should be able to change the font and font size of the Nav Menu widget in the same way as always. Select the menu, click on the Fonts button and use the Fonts Panel to adjust font, font size etc to how you want it.

Hope that gets you there!

Thank you so much for your assistance! Worked perfectly. Thank you!

I have another quick question that i'm sure is easily answered. Obviously, i'm still trying to figure this all out!

On the master page I have a responsive row set up at the top and in the row is my logo and next to it is the navigation menu. When the width of the responsive window is decreased, the menu at the top right first drops below my logo then as the window narrows further, the menu becomes a "burger" Is there anyway to skip the in-between stage where the menu drops? I would prefer it went from normal to "burger. " If it would be helpful I could include screen shots......

Yes you can do this.

Select the navigation bar then go to the Inspector->Widget Settings tab

When you see the field that says 'Appear at Width' increase that number to a width that will make the hamburger button appear at the proper browser width so it doesn't wrap.
