| How about an "slide show gadget". You could dump all your images and have a direct link to the slideshow. The thing I always hated about iWeb was having to display the image gallery to access the slide show. For example a link that says "view are newest designs" where you click on it and it take you directly to the slideshow view. | |

have you tried the Image Gallery widget? There is a slide show option. Or are you referring to something else?

| Yes, but I don't want to show all the images on the page. I just want to be able to have a link straight to the slideshow. | |

That's a rather interesting and appealing idea ...

Almost any jQuery based slideshow can be implemented with or without thumbnails. Website banners are just sliders without thumbs set to autoplay. What EasyWeb really needs is a slideshow which can be set to autoplay and the thumbs hidden as an option. Banners usually have no controls but the better ones can be stopped on mouse over and have captions and clickable links. Here's some examples of the type of slideshow that EasyWeb should have... http://www.ezmacwebdesign.com/Demo/galleria/ http://www.ezmacwebdesign.com/Demo/Responsive-Gallery/index.html http://www.ezmacwebdesign.com/Demo/Flex-Slider/ez-carousel.html All of the above have the necessary features plus the essential ones for mobile sites such as hiding the thumbs on smart phones and finger swiping. Reduce your browser width to see this in action. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | I agree with Roddy, those would be perfect slideshows for EW. Hey Roddy, If they don't implement something like that, is it possible to add that type of slideshow to EW with a html widget?

You can create just about any jQuery based slider in EasyWeb. The main exception, at the moment, being those that require the URLs to the images be in the javascript. Here's an example of Galleria in EasyWeb... http://roddymckay.com/EasyWeb/galleria.html ... and modified to create a banner with captions... http://roddymckay.com/EasyWeb/galleria-banner.html Galleria has a large number of options so you can tailor it to your requirements easily. Wow slider is the big name in website slideshows but I think Galleria has it beat on ease of customization and very definitely on price! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | Thanks Roddy! So what are the exact steps after adding the html widget. Do you copy the exact code from the index file? Thanks, I'm a newbie when it comes to code and working with the html widget.

| This was at the bottom of you example... "All the relevent files have been uploaded to the server and the index.html referenced in an firame code in an HTML Widget to get it to appear on the EasyWeb created page". | |

I uploaded the files to a server (not the EasyWeb one) and used an iframe as a quick and dirty way of getting the slider working. If you are using the EasyWeb server you would need to do it a little differently since we cannot, at this time, upload files outside of the application. Most projects like this require code to be put in three places... (a) Relative links to assets in the page Head Code box (b) Setup javascript in the Footer Code box (c) HTML in an HTML Snippet If you want to give it a go I will do all the behind the scenes stuff with the assets and write a step by step of you - given a little time! None of the above is difficult and would be a lot easier if EasyWeb would give us better tools to do it. One of the problems with this type of project at the moment is the fact that we can't add folders of assets to EasyWeb. We can only add individual files. This means that the actual scripts for the slider have to be modified and the assets rearranged. I do wish the developers would implement the ability to include folders in Assets and/or allow us to upload them to the EasyWeb server as it would make life a lot easier. I think this would be more valuable than spending their time pandering to the ex iWeb users who want all these functions that shouldn't be in a web design app anyway! The default EasyWeb "slideshow for dummies" is neither good enough nor versatile enough to satisfy most users and I am sure there are going to be a lot of people wanting to implement better ones that are more appropriate to their needs. Anyway, let me know if you want to give it a whirl and be the test pilot who makes this slider fly. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
