Viewing Table with 15x15 rows/columns?

Table with 15x15 rows/columns?

User: Ole V. 5 years ago
Is there a way in EverWeb - or by using a 3d part widget - that allows the creation of a table with 15-20 rows (not as a picture file, but as an actual table) and also 15-20 columns? Thanks in advance.

No, you will have to use a widget to do this.

Thanks, but I don't think I've seen any widgets which offer more than 8 columns?

A table with that number of columns is not very practical - particularly in responsive design.

Here's some info about Using Tables In A Responisve Design with an example.

Thanks, and sorry, but replacing tables with downloadable pdfs is not something I want to do.
In WordPress, one can turn on/of responsiveness for each table, which of course makes sense, and there are many ways to create tables on that platform, so I'm sure there shouldn't be a need to use pdfs or images in EW either? I'm not at all here to promote WordPress, but it's hard to believe that with so many options for that platform, EW-users should stick to using pics or pdfs. Regarding "Tables with more than four to six columns really have no place in modern web design", I see a lot of tables in current web design. If they can't be made in a modern way, I'm not sure if that would worry anyone. People are going to keep using tables with more than six columns, so I hope there will be a good solution fot that in EW.

Are there any good solutions for making wide (read: with many columns) tables in *non-responsive* pages in EW (with or without widgets)?

Hi Ole,

We will be working on some table widgets in the near future. I have marked down your examples and hopefully we can provide something similar for you soon in the form of a widget

I don't see any examples of tables with 15 columns.

The one shown HERE only has seven columns and doesn't work on iPhone. It needs - at least - an overflow function like THIS widget.

The Switch style is a much better option.

I have made a lot of table widgets but there is very little demand for them from EverWeb users.

OK, but I tried an online demo of one of the WordPress solutions, and it was easy to create a table with more columns than that - and also to find out how to do it. And - if one want to study large tables, one wouldn't mainly do that on a phone anyway.

There is a way to have a table with a lot of columns work properly on an iPhone but use horizontal scrolling

For example, the pricing grid table on our pricing page.

There will be some widgets that do something similar released soon.

There already is a widget like that. The Responsive Modules 4 pack has a sortable table with overflow X.

There's also a better option which is a table that switches from table view on wider screens to list view on mobile. It uses a pure CSS solution.

The Modules 5 pack - released yesterday - has a table that uses both methods.

The Responsive Data Table can have up to 16 columns and 100rows. It is responsive down to its minimum width setting and then overflows on the x-axis.

On mobile phones, it switches to a list view and a jQuery plugin is used to add the data attributes.

Thanks for your reply. If each column needs to show only a short number, one can display a lot of columns on a mobile phone. Right now I'm looking at a table on a phone which is 10 columns wide, and that works just fine. So if your 16 column wide table can be set to switch to a behave like a list at a user definable number of pixels, that could be a good solution.

Sure, and one can also use the phone in landscape mode.
