Viewing General Observations

General Observations

I've been messing around with EasyWeb. Yes, it is a lot like iWeb, BUT...

1. iweb allows you to drag and drop images/text from a program like Photoshop and Illustrator.
2. EW slideshow is okay, but iweb's is by far more professional. At least make the EW interface darker and get rid of the cheesy "Tweet" button.
3. iweb allows you to preview your website before publishing with the "Visit" button. EW - Come on...you seriously have to publish to a folder each time you want to preview your site???
4. A huge downfall of EW is no FTP publishing to your choice of hosts like in iweb
5. iweb has image adjustments.
6. with EW you can't mask into a shape (i.e.. star)
7. No Character Spacing in EW.
8. The templates are horrible. I always start from a blank page anyway, but come on. Hire a designer to knock out some decent templates.

This is just what I notice in the first hour.

I'm hoping I got some of this wrong and EW does offer some of the above and I missed it. Please advise, because I sure did have high hopes for EasyWeb. So far, the only advantage that I will use is "Drop Down Menus"

HI,

Thanks for your feedback.

You can do this with EasyWeb. It works for me. Not sure what you tried but a screen recording would help to see what you are doing...

Really? Most websites now use the EasyWeb effect. Why is the Tweet button cheesy? And what do you mean by make the interface darker?

You still need to publish to a folder with iWeb. The visit now button visits the last published to folder website in iWeb...

For the time being you need to publish to a folder but we may implement this later on..

5. iweb has image adjustments.

We will add this in a future version.

Most likely won't be added. It isn't something that many websites use.

The templates aren't finalized and we have more coming. But horrible really? I think they are much more modern than iWeb's.

Here are a few more features that EasyWeb has;
Built in SEO Features
Websites built using HTML 5
Drop down menus
Social media integration
Mouse effects and transitions
More powerful HTML widget
Easy editing of header and footer code for things like scripts and analytics
Retina ready websites

My bad... It will let you drag and drop from Photoshop, NOT Illustrator. I don't mind the Slideshow effect but would like control to make the frame dark gray or black. I get why the Tweet button is on there, but at least give the designer the option to hide it. I also just noticed that you can't manually rotate like in iweb (hold command).

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of EasyWeb and think you are on the right track, but it just is not ready to be called the iweb replacement... yet. Seems to me you need to start where iweb left off and build from there. For example... you said you will not offer adjustments until a future upgrade and FTP publishing again "later on". We need it now! In my opinion, this product needs to stay in Beta until then.

It means you can have mouse over and mouse down transitions. Select a shape and then go to Inspector->Shape Options (second tab) and then next to Fill where it says Normal, Select 'Mouse over" or "Mouse down"
