German umlauts in Hamburger menu

User: Ingo P. 5 years ago
In Germany, Austria und Suisse the word 'MENÜ' is used for MENU. These umlauts(?) do not appear when used as description in the Hamburger menu.

That text is being entered as HTML - not like text in a text box. To get what you want enter...

MENU-Ä Ü-TEST

Thanks, Roddy.
I've tried both ways, none worked. I'm on a Mac, by the way.

cheers, Ingo

Yes, I just tried it myself and it doesn't want to know!

Why do you need these characters in a menu label? The hamburger icon is so well known now that I don't see the need for a label at all.

You're right, Roddy. The description is not really needed. Anyway, if the programmers are bored sometimes, they might have a look at it. :-)

Thanx, Ingo

I was searching through some folders and found the original code that the EverWeb responsive menu was developed from. The text next to the hamburger icon is actually inserted into java script.

To insert a letter, you would find the JS code version of it. These are not too easy to find for umlauts!

I have created a table which shows the letters A, O and U in upper and lower case along with the HTML code and the java script code. See it at the bottom of THIS page.
