Also occasionally getting the lovely “Protocol error”.

Same error when attempting ‘Publish Entire Site’.

The issue is because your web host only allows 8 connections from your IP address and you have reached that amount.

From the preferences in EverWeb change the max connections to around 3 and then wait 15 minutes and publish again. You won't get that error again.
