Viewing Lists (bullets & numbers)

Lists (bullets & numbers)

User: Guest 11 years ago
A lot of people used numbered or bulleted list in iWeb. Most of the template pages even had lists on them. Is this feature going to be brought in?

For now you can press Option Key and 8 on your keyboard together to put a bullet in a text box and format your lists like that.

See the bottom of this page for info about using HTML and CSS or the Character Viewer to create different styles of lists and list markers...

Just starting the next page of my site and need bullets. Please add my vote for this feature.

I guess for now i'll use option + 8. Who knew the option key could be so versatile!
User: Roddy 10 years ago
If you launch the keyboard viewer and hold down the option key you will see all the symbols available.

Yes, ordered and unordered lists should be supported in the app. For now, using option-8 will do. Thanks for the tip!

New to Everweb here - am trialing it in hopes of replacing Quick N Easy Web Builder. QnEWB has quite a few added text options, including bullets. However, in setting up my Everweb test page, I entered my text in Textedit, included a list, and copied into an Everweb text box. Formatting copied over quite nicely. Those who want/need bullets might consider this alternative until Everweb adds that as a feature. I find this a lot easier than option-8.

RageSW: Please count me among those who are requesting formatted lists.

How close are we to seeing this added? Having this apparently still absent has been a solid continual headache.

I bought EverWeb to supplant iWeb but have put off publishing my site because of a few iWeb features that are still missing. I finally came back to it but it seems that after years this is still unsupported. This is really unfortunate. Option 8 is not a viable alternative because of indenting issues of subsequent lines. <li> is a very basic html element and needs to be supported.

This is how I do it.
Open Text Editor
Make the list you want by using the last tab. (bullets, A, numbers, ...)
Choose font (websafe font), size, style, interline, etc
Select all text and copy it
Open EW
Create a new 'text area'
Paste the copied text into the area.
Drag the sizes to make sure all text fits in properly.
You can use 'save text as an image'
Done

From the SEO point of view it's far better to use a <ul> or <ol> to create a list so that the spiders recognise the items as being related.

I don't often use lists but find it quick and easy using the List Widget.

For even better SEO, the HTML5 List widget allows the items to be grouped with thier own HTML heading and lead in.

Roddy, I would normally agree with you and have made excellent use of the HTML5 list widget except that it only goes to 12 bullets and it can't (as far as I can tell) be made transparent or use the opacity slider in the colour picker to allow the page background to show through.

Rage - Please add my name to the list in favour of adding ordered and unordered lists directly to EverWeb.
