How do I share a site preview with someone who doesn't have Everweb?

User: Jennifer W. 6 years ago
I assume the preview I see is only on my computer so I can't just copy the link. I want a few people to check it before it goes live. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

You need to either publish the site to the server or publish it to a local folder and send them a copy.

If you don't want the site seen in general you can publish it to a sub folder on the sever.

Hi, Jennifer!

There are a few ways to do that.
1. Publish your website to a folder, compress that folder and share the archive.
2. Publish the website to your hosting server (but to a subdirectory) and send the link to those who are to check the website. For example, you can type "secretpreview" in the Subdirectory field (Site Publishing Settings) and the website will get published under yourdomain.com/secretpreview - this way only people having the direct link or the subdirectory name will be able to access the website.
3. Share your website project file so that other people could preview your website in EverWeb from their side.
They can simply download and install the trial/demo version of EverWeb (from here: https://www.everwebapp.com/download.html ), open the shared project file in EverWeb and use the Preview option.
You can share your project file via Dropbox as per instructions provided in our video tutorial: https://www.everwebapp.com/support/video-tutorials/backing-up-or-sharing-an-everweb-site.html
If you do not want to share your website project file via Dropbox, you can simply locate the project file on your Mac, compress it and share the archive. On the receiver's side, that archive has to be downloaded, unpacked and the resulting .everweb file has to be drag-n-dropped to the EverWeb's Recent Projects list. Then the project file can be opened in EverWeb and previewed as usual.

And here's how to locate the project file on your Mac:
- Launch EverWeb
- Locate your website in the Recent Projects list
- Click the little arrows next to the website/project name and select Show On Disk
- A Finder window will pop up with the project file highlighted
- Compress the highlighted .everweb file (right-click or Control+click it -> Compress)
- Share the archive

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Kate

Hello Jennifer,

If you have Dropbox ( free ) you can add a folder what can be shared - you load the website up there and just invite whoever can have access to it.
Hope that helps
