Desctop, tablet and mobile website 3 in one - is it possible ?

User: Ana F. 6 years ago
Hallo, how can I make my website load in 3 different styles - desctop for laptop or pc, tablet for tablet and mobile for mobile phones. I know I can redirect one site to one mobile site - but can i redirect it to two differnt - depending on the view?

If that is possible - can you tell me how to do it?
I am already working on all 3 site types and it would be cool to see them working

thank you
Ana

I’m glad to see that you are creating a separate version of your site for tablets. If EverWeb users realised how poorly their full site performs on these devices I’m sure more of them would follow your lead.

As I mentioned in my email to you, I did have a widget which redirected to computer phone and tablet - both ways. The method broke when EverWeb started adding a UUID to all links.

I do have a widget for redirecting to a mobile version of the site. This was created for those who wanted to have a responsive version of the mobile site which suited all iPhone screen widths from 739px down to 320px. The EverWeb redirect is set for 700px which is not ideal.

I did a test with the Mobile Redirect widget and it will help resolve your problem as follows ...

On the full site, use the EverWeb redirect in the Page inspector to redirect to the phone page and the widget to redirect to the tablet page.

On the tablet page, use the EverWeb redirect to the phone page.

See THIS instructional video for how to redirect visitors from the phone and tablet sites to the full site.

Hi Roddy, can you help me link them right - i get a error
User: Roddy 6 years ago
The error is probably in the relative file paths you are using. Try setting it up using absolute file paths to begin with.

Hello Roddy, Thank you for your reply.
I will add the widget to the main pages as well and link all 3 versions using the widget - but there is another problem - if the page name has only one name in my case "zodijak" what means, that the html is zodijak.html - the widget keeps on changing the first letter to a capital one :( - when the page has a longer name and a - in-between - everything is fine. suggestions? ideas?

Roddy, I am using the redirect code widget should I change to the mobile redirect widget.

The java script redirect in the head code doesn't work in V2 of EverWeb due to the data linkUUID that EverWeb adds to all hyperlinks and has done so for nearly a year now. If you open a project that use this method in any version of EverWeb 2.1 and up, the code will break.

Using the mobile redirect widget as described above will overcome the issue but is not a very satisfactory solution.

Roddy the redirect code I am using is recent I've been using it in EW 2.6 and 2.7 and seems to be working ok The only question I've ever had is that when I use Google analytics and it responds with a caution icon that it encounter a redirect. You have sent me info that explained it wasn't hurting my SEO. The former redirect you're speaking of must not be this one.

If you are inserting the redirect code in the Head Code box using the instructions on THIS page then it will work fine.

I originally made a widget which made this a lot easier but it broke in EverWeb V2 due to the addition of the linkUUID.
