How do I ... update to 2.6?

User: Jay J. 6 years ago
Hi Paul,

I recently update my support plan for another year without any problems.
Now I'm trying to update to 2.6 ( I'm currently using version 2.5.1 build 1840) but when I try to update from the preference menu, I get an error message saying
An error occurred while trying to check for updates. Check your internet connection and try again later.
Error:
Connection dropped.

Not sure why that is.... I'm connected as we "speak" now and I also downloaded the 2.6 version from your regular/customer download page a few minutes ago... I didn't install that version though because I'm not sure if that will "disrupt" things since it's not an automatic update as I always had in the past.

Can I just install the downloaded version or is there a way to do an automatic update, using the preference menu option? I just don't want to screw things up...
Please help!

Hi Hans,

You can always download the update from our website here;

https://www.everwebapp.com/download.html

It is the same update that you get from the auto update.

Thanks for the quick update, Paul (pun intended) If I install 2.6, will it update 2.5 or will it install as a new (2nd Everweb) app? I see that 2.7 is also available, but still in Beta, should I wait with that or go straight to 2.7?

Thanks,
Hans

With the link I provided you would download EverWeb as you would download any new application. Nothing is removed from your computer so the old version will still be there until you replace it.

It is up to you. There is no difference or no downside to doing either. If you want to start using 2.6 you can do so immediately and then update to 2.7 after.
