Unused Assets Bug in 2.70 Beta

Bug report 2.70 beta

Paul -

Tech support has been tracking this for several months with V2.6. The problem was running unused assets on my system ended up deleting over 300 images. It seems to be random in the selection of what to delete. After sending files and many discussions, TS said the problem was found and would be implemented in the next release which arrived today (2.70b). I change the site frequently and am now approaching critical level to scrub the site.
Running unused assets with this beta version found 724 items. Now, that scares the heck out me so I backed out.
Was the problem found and fixed?

I'm having the same problem, I believe... Just uploaded a new site and it has a background image. Well I was looking for the image earlier to see how big the file was, because is was taking some time in loading online. Well when I found the image, it shows up like 20 times in my file images folder that is uploaded on the site. But not only that one, but every version of background images I had tested to find the right one. I'm hoping this 2.7 version will fix it... here goes... :)

Not quite the same problem :-)
My bug is deleting and yours is adding. Given I haven't seen that mentioned in the forum before I suspect it's specific to your system. This is the beta version? Bugs are to be expected. In my case, the problem has lasted through 3 versions now. Maybe it's a feature...

Sorry for the problems you are experiencing.

These issues do appear to be different for both of you guys.

@Courtney: I think there were some changes to this issue. Can you try it on a back up of your project file?

@Eric: Please try publishing your entire site with 2.7 and let me know if everything works.

Paul-

I was using 2.7 and at the urging of TS I tried running unused asset on a copy of the main site file. It found 746 assets to remove, so I went ahead and let it finish. I lost about 10% of the graphics on most pages on the site. TS is asking for a copy of the site file and I'll get it off this morning. I also see 2.7.1 is out so I'll load that up.
Don't mean to burden you with this but several months ago TS said the bug had been found but it would be 2.7 before it's addressed. I'm now going through everything again before it gets escalated to you guys. Trying to short cut this long process a bit.
