Viewing Autoplay in Safari

Autoplay in Safari

User: Les C. 6 years ago
I have been using EverWeb now for a couple of years. Generally, I have been satisfied with both the app and customer service. While there are certain inherent limitations, I'm generally able to find workarounds (and thank God for EverWeb Codebox).

Last year, however, things changed. The app has become buggy, and customer support has dropped to an industry low. I've contacted support numerous times during the past year and met with technicians who are uninformed, unskilled, and some who plainly just didn't care. It didn't use to be that way.

I hate to have to make a complaint like this, but hopefully someone in the EW echelon is listening.

There seems to be a mix up here. The title suggests that you need info about the new "autoplay" rules in Safari but the content suggests otherwise. I can't comment on the content but I can offer some info about autoplay.

To fund their project, many websites are autoplaying video ads which are extremely annoying to most of us. In an atempt to address this problem, Safari will now prevent video autoplay unless it is muted.

On the positive side, Safari for iOS 10 and up will now autoplay muted video although it must also use the "playsinline" attribute to prevent it going fullscreen on iPhones.

The latest addition to the Website Elements 2 widget pack is the VideoJS Auto Pause which incorporates the new functions and will also auto pause the video when another one is played.
