If there are any requests for certain types of themes, please list them here. There are no guarantees that these requests will all be granted but this is a good opportunity for those who do have some theme requests to make them. Thank you. Last edit 12 years ago |

When I've looked around for templates in the past their always seems to be a lack of something suitable for Home Services, ie Plumbing ... Heating, Carpentry etc See what you can come up with... |

Just a little brainstorming based on the type of clients/request I get: Models/Actors/Actresses Modeling Agencies Bands/Music Professionals (audio engineers/recording studios/producers/musicians) Designers, Artist, Design and Production Agencies: Web (though they should code), icon, logo, graphic, fashion, visual artist, dancers Video/film production/studios, Web-series, Photographers (all types) You'd probably have 1000s of Wedding Photographers that'd love you if you had a couple of themes for them. Shops and commerce - for physical and downloadable goods - and for online only and brink and mortar type/Boutique shops Restaurants, Bakeries, Coffee houses, Cupcake shops, Catering businesses Exercise/Sports (think local baseball teams/softball leagues/bowling leagues) Local health care specialist: Dentist, Nutritionist, Physical Therapist, Psychologist, Personal Trainers, lots of these people have their own practice and do their own local marketing. Real Estate Agencies - another huge area were they usually need their own domain name/hosting etc. for local marketing and need sites they can update with all their new listings etc. Blogs - think tumblr, WP, etc. (unless integration of these somehow happens) Definitely mobile versions of all of the above... every theme should have a mobile equivalent (or a way to easily build a mobile version for iPhone, iPad, etc.) Actually if I were on the EasyWeb team I'd be researching the most popular themes, templates, and plugins used on sites like WP, tmblr, etc. and apply that knowledge to developing the themes and widgets for EasyWeb... Also look at where design is going so they look very up-to date and contemporary. Current design thinking seems to be making a huge change right around now. Just look at the new UI introduced for iOS last week or so... not saying that's the way to take it... just be very aware of the changes taking place right now - or the themes will look dated from day one. And that includes the typography used in the themes as well, please don't forget the importance of having great typography within the designs. Looking forward to seeing some great themes now! |

Perhaps some kind of two column layout would be useful with the ability to switch to a single column on mobile devices.

Personally I have very little need for templates, themes, etc. but if EasyWeb is going to be successful with small business owners, freelancers, etc. Probably the majority of previous iWeb users... It will need killer themes that they can just fill in their info, drop in their pics, videos, etc. and go! There is way too much competition out there these days for this type of app/service. Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, Virb, Carbonmade, Sandvox, Shopify, not to mention WP and all the blogging sites... lots of these have 100s of templates/themes in WP case over ten-thousand. Of course in WP case they weren't all made by a single company, etc. But this is the reality of the competition today. Most of these services are mobile friendly already as well. The competition and situation is a lot different to day than in 2006 when iWeb came on the scene. I think EasyWeb has the potential to compete very well. The 2 niches I'd personally go after are the people (with creativity) and can't get the customization they want with the other services. The people that have a vision and want to create it as they see it. That means more sophisticated users who are maybe photographers, videographers, musicians, designers outside web design. People who have a strong design sense and want to see a finish project as they envision it without compromise. These user will look for more advance features, and control, and be able to be precise. Basically they want an app that will code what they design, and they want to be able to design whatever they imagine. And these people are usually very demanding, perfectionist and may also have an excellent design sense just no coding skills. The 2nd niche is the freelancer, small business owner that needs his or her info out there - needs it to look professional and match their style/image. Needs to be able to update it themselves. And do it fast and as simple as possible. May also need some type of blog feature to update/interact with their customers or clients (think real estate agent). Possibly e-commerce if they sell something. The 2nd niche will never care if something is off by 2 pixels. The first one would spot it by eye. It's a huge undertaking to satisfy both for sure, but oddly they have a lot in common too. I think the 2nd niche is also covered more easily by all the previously mentioned services like Weebly, etc. While the professional designer/creative types that just happen to be in other fields besides web design but have a strong eye for design have been missing the control they desire without having to take time away from their main passions to learn how to code. 2006 (when iWeb first came out) to now... 7 1/2 years later a lot has changed. A strong templet/theme (along with widget) showing will be something I think EasyWeb will need to offer to be successful. Ideally if EasyWeb is able to grow or have users submit/share/sell themes, widgets, etc. Say something like themeforest.com If they can create a whole community of users... they could really grow this into something amazing. |

Some of the comments are more of features requests, and as we continue to develop EasyWeb, we will be incorporating as many of these features as possible (for example, responsive design). For this thread, we are more curious to see if there are any themes in particular that some people would like to request. Yes, a lot of users have a creative side to them and will want to design their own layout, and that is why EasyWeb is so special, because creating your own layout is so simple - just like it is in iWeb. But, there still are a lot of users, specifically small business owners who don't want to spend the thousands of dollars on hiring a web designer, and just need a fast and easy way to launch their businesses online presence. These will be the users I suspect will utilize the built-in templates the most. So rather than create generic themes for people to work with, we would prefer to make more industry specific, that way a dentist for example, can launch EasyWeb and locate a theme made for dentists, add their own photos, modify some text, click publish, and have their sites online. |

I am brand new to the Beta Forum and was surprised in opening EasyWeb that there was no category for Schools/Education themes. There are a lot of teachers, instructors and schools out there who are looking for easy drag and drop themes. |

School teacher themes are currently in production. I suspect one will be released within the next week. Edit: The school teacher theme I mentioned was designed more for an elementary school teacher, though it could certainly be used by any teacher and/or an institution. |

I wouldn't mind having a template for photographers or maybe musical stuff (like music production, choirs etc.).

[quote="pumpkin":1e5tyy35]I wouldn't mind having a template for photographers or maybe musical stuff (like music production, choirs etc.).[/quote:1e5tyy35] Photographer is also in production, and a musical one as well. The musical related theme is geared more towards a band, but could definitely be used for a product company, voiceover artist, choir, glee club, etc. |

| Also since many people are used to IWeb, may be you could replicate somehow the templates from IWeb. It would be so much easier for people to transfer over | |
