Viewing Embedding Vimeo as HTML Snippet

Embedding Vimeo as HTML Snippet

User: Guest 12 years ago
Under Widgets there is an option to drag-n-drop Youtube vids, but there is no option for direct Vimeo videos, thus I have to use the HTML Snippet and paste the embed code from a vid on Vimeo to the webpage.

The problem - once the element is embedded into the webpage, EasyWeb does not have a preview "still" of the vid to show where it is - it appears invisible unless if you "find' it and click on it and thus see the adjustable corners (and thus resize and place by guess-n-reclicking on the invisible HTML Snippet.

Any way to solve this problem? Vimeo tends to have better quality than Youtube.

Thanks!

Someday we will be able to preview everything that we place in the Snippet. This is how I get around it just now...

Ideally, website movie players should load a poster image on page load - rather than the movie file itself - so that the page loads a lot faster in the browser.

VideoJS is probably the easiest to implement for situations where you have only one movie per page...

If you have more than one movie on a page and want the one that is playing to stop when a visitor starts another, Flowplayer has that capability...

Thanks Roddy - I shall check out Flowplayer - looks like it should solve the problem - altho I am planning to have 3 or 4 vids up on one page, I don't need anything fancy, just several videos on one webpage (and I like how Flowplayer will design the video player.

Apple are planning to integrate vimeo straight into their devices. It's currently in the ios7 beta. Easyweb web should definitely have this option as a snippet alongside YouTube...

If you do use Flowplayer Designer, make sure you reference a background image (poster or splash image) for the .flowplayer div in the CSS and that the check box next to "Start with a splash image" is checked and the one next to "Preload Video" is unchecked.

This is essential anytime but particularly so when you have more than one video per page.

You should definitely be able to see the preview of the video in EasyWeb. Check the embed code to make sure you copied everything correctly. If you would like, post the video link here so we can double check that the embed code used in EasyWeb has the video preview appear.

I don't get a preview in EasyWeb.

When I turn on the network monitor and click the widget apply button, EW makes no attempt to connect to Vimeo.

You guys are copying the iFrame embed code and pasting it in the HTML Snippet, correct?

Just to make sure it's not me that's screwing things up, I tried the full iframe code from Vimeo and the result is the same.
