Everweb always publishes whole site

I've got a few sites made with EW 1.9.6. Some of them are always publishing the whole site, some of them only the changes, as it should be. I can see no reproducable reason for this behaviour, cause they're all hosted on the same provider. The only difference is, that I use global-headcode on the publishing-page of some sites. Is it possible, that this could be the reason for a always-complete-upload? cheers, Ingo |

| I think that I have much the same issue. Publishing is incremental to a folder and appears to be incremental to a site (as it should be) until the ftp upload takes place, when the entire site seems always to be uploaded. I do not have any global-headcode. | |

No the entire website is NOT uploaded. You will see that EverWeb will say something like "Skipping file..." or Directory already exists. This means that it won't be uploading these files, it's just that it is making sure your website is synced properly. Meaning that all your local files are on the server. EverWeb only publishes your entire site if you change the sitewide header/footer code, move or rename pages that are included in the navigation bar, or update a master page that is used by all pages. In version 2.0 we have made some significant enhancements to publishing specifically if you rename folders or pages on your site. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Thanks Paul. I watched the comments more carefully during the last upload. I was wrong and you were right. I had experienced a problem recently with image positioning errors in generated html files (Y value staying at an old value following an edit to reduce header height despite correct figure being displayed in EverWeb) but that was solved by deselecting passive ftp mode. All's well and I remain impressed with EverWeb (and Roddy's widgets)! |

When users report that the whole site is being published - instead of just changes - nobody seems to mention how they know that the whole site is being published and/or whether all the page icons in the left column have turned red or not. The Widgets 3 section has way over 200 pages and uses an external stylesheet, a custom mega menu and a whole bunch of other stuff referenced in the Site Wide Head Code box. If there was any problem with EverWeb publishing the whole site rather than just the changes I would surely know about it! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
