Link formatting changing erratically?

I set some hyper-links. Grey, white for the mouseover, grey when visited. I've just done an elaborate website like this. Suddenly my 'grey' is blue with an underline and the mouseover doesn't work, but when I click the link it turns 'red'.

There is a corruption happening here. Now, the thing I did, which might be a no-no: I wanted to make a sub-title on the 'Master' page have a hyper-link ... so that all the subsequent pages I made from it would have the same hyper-link. I set the hyper-links the same as I'd been doing on all the other pages made from the 'Master' ... meaning 'grey', 'white', 'grey'.

But when I published the changes ... the website online version had switched the hyper-links to blue, no mouseover, and red. I went back to the default I'd set ... it was still exactly the same, grey, white, grey.

So I unlinked the hyper-links on the 'Master' page. And then when I returned to add new hyper-links to the pages made from the master page ... even though the default is a visible grey, white, grey ... all subsequent hyper-links I've created are turning out to be blue and red once published.

What could be happening? Is there somewhere I can trash preferences? Or, I should ask, can I JUST trash preferences in the Library/Preferences folder as I do for many other apps?

And, while I'm asking. Can one create hyper-links on the 'Master' page ... that one wants to have on all the pages made from the Master page? Is it a proper protocol? Once we've figured out why the text colouring has gone kabonkers.

All ears,

Ben

Hi Ben,

Do you have a web page the shows this so I can check?

Also, have you tried publishing your entire website and clearing your web browser cache?

Yes you can set up hyperlinks on the master page.

Hi Paul,

I think the problem was SAFARI. In all the iterations I tried I finally got rid of the 'wrong' hyper-link colours. I'm not having the trouble any more. And the unwanted colours seemed to always be related to SAFARI; so I'm constantly previewing in Safari, Chrome, Firefox ... and this seems to be helping. If it's working in one Browser and not in another then I spend more time cleaning caches on the errant browser -- which in the case of Safari doesn't seem to help sometimes. It takes trashing all history, and then re-booting the app.

I can't remember which site was giving me the issues. I'm working up about five sites right now, to go with marketing a bunch of films ready for release. And they all seem to be working. My new 'learning curve' is making the VERSIONS of the sites for the various mobile devices.

Thank you Paul,

Ben
