A popup told me to upgrade from vs 1.9 so I did. All these new features and bug fixes in 1.9.5! But now I can't publish until I renew my account :(. Otherwise, I have to downgrade to an earlier version. Hmm. Why didn't it tell me that before I upgraded? I don't mind supporting the fine people at Rage. This product seems to be getting better and better over time. But I don't really need the upgrade. Or do I?

There was a message that came up when you tried to upgrade. Try again after you download version 1.9 again. You will see it. We hope you think the new features are worth the update price. We put a lot of work into the new version and I believe it is significantly better. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Exactly the same for me. Update the program and cannot upload web changes. Fortunately I also have a MacBook which was not updated so able to upload from there. How can supposed bug fixes disable the program? I will pay for an upgrade when I get the blog feature in the program. |

Quote: How can supposed bug fixes disable the program? I will pay for an upgrade when I get the blog feature in the program. Delete There are 2 warnings about the paid upgrade BEFORE You install it and you have to actually confirm the installation of the paid upgrade. Your purchase of EverWeb comes with one year of free upgrades and support. After you can purchase an upgrade renewal plan if you like. If not, you can continue using the version you have for however you want. If you have accidentally downloaded a version outside of your upgrade policy simply download the earlier version from your client area. We have provided more upgrades with more features than any other similar product over the last year. We work very hard to always include features our customers want instead of waiting to implement these features in one major version. | If several seemingly intelligent people are feeling confused and cheated by this new "upgrade and pay without being told you had to before you hit the upgrade button" then the problem is real. We are not imagining it. Or are we stupid? | |

I've read some of the other threads and I think people have blown this out of proportion. I didn't get a message telling me I had to pay before the upgrade would publish, but that seems to have been rectified. I don't believe for a second that this was intentional or that Rage is out to "cheat" anyone. It was either a bug or an accidental oversight. Keep up the good work guys! ------------------------------- rMBP 15", 2.6 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, OS X 10.11.6, with 27" Thunderbolt Cinema Display www.cleetche.com |

Bull! This is a sneaky tactic to capture more revenue by using the habits of their customers based on past experience with their software, plain and simple. It is well within their ability to create an update script that checks your account status before allowing the upgrade. The EverWeb team knows that everyone using the app is used to the regular and included upgrades and will hit the upgrade button as usual without much reading. Once they do they loose the ability to publish unless they 'downgrade' or buy a new 1 year service plan. Buying the plan will probably seem easier at that point. There certainly isn't a convenient 'downgrade' button on my splash screen for EW. I know you guys gotta make money, but allowing the upgrade before the plan purchase and praying on users familiarity with a past service model is a bad tactic for building customer loyalty. |

What would seeing that topic change in my impression of this obviously ill advised method of upgrading licenses and software? The upgrade is still offered as a push button on the splash screen BEFORE any verification of account status. But the software obviously has your status immediately after the fact because it knows not to let you publish. The option to 'downgrade' is no where near as obvious or quick as the option to upgrade. I'll accept that EW has fully figured out the mistake they are making when the splash screen upgrade function refuses to download and install the latest version until AFTER you have upgraded you account (if desired). That or they put in a 'downgrade' button right next to the upgrade one ; ) |
