Viewing Directories in Assets

Directories in Assets

Why can't we drag directories into Assets?

I just came across a situation where not being able to do this is a total pain.

I thought I would try the super sized background auto slider in EasyWeb and started to drag in the assets. Something in the back of my mind made me think that this was futile so I stopped and thought about it.

There is a stylesheet that has relative links to the 17 images required for the loader, controls etc. This means that I would have to drag all 17 into the assets and then go through the stylesheet and change every file path in it!

There are lots of similar instances. The mediaelement player shown here...

has an assets folder with 20 files - all related to each other.

The playlist player shown here...

... has relative links to images in both the custom CSS and the Javascript and so on...

Now that I think about it, this is another reason I am uploading assets to another server because I can't upload them to the EW one and I really don't want to have to change all these relative URLs.

I think you'll find that users will try to implement quite a few projects that are available online with good instructions but they will be defeated by not knowing how to dig into the CSS and JS files and change the URLs. Its a tedious business, as I know to my cost, and inevitably at least one eludes me and takes more time to track down than it takes complete the rest of the project.

I agree and I think it is something we will have to adjust but it is actually a big task to make this change so it wouldn't be done so quickly.
