Viewing Masking Question

Masking Question

I would like to understand what is the point of setting the image to "stretch" when masking it? It distorts the image and if I try to Fill Offsets it only moves it in one direction therefore cutting part of the image rather than moving it within the shape...I am assuming this feature is not finished yet?

It is one that still needs work for sure. For now, you would be better suited to crop or "mask" your image with preview or another photo editor.

I know about that - really inconvenient though....:)

Setting to stretch doesn't distort the picture, only if you change the image's dimensions. This is the exact same way that iWeb works with it's masking feature. The masking feature ONLY works for images dragged onto the application which are essentially set to the same stretch settings and made masking impossible for shapes who have an image fill set to them.

What is needed is a "Set to Original Size" option like iWeb had which would set an image to its original size. I will make sure that gets put in.

But as Jeff mentioned, it is still a work in progress.

I understand - you are right that it does not distort the picture when applied as shape to image rather than fill the shape with image... However, it is impossible to center or move the image within the shape in different direction - it only moves left to right....

Another question: if I fill a frame or shape with an image clicking on Scale to Fill does not fill in the shape - is that something that you are also working on? Or am I doing something wrong?

We are working on improving the masking feature.

Works for me. Can you post a screenshot of what you see.

Here it is: I chose Oval Shape and filled it with an image, the left one is Scale to Fill, right - Scale to Fit. They are exactly the same...
