Viewing Video File Size

Video File Size

What would be an 'acceptable' file size for a background video that autoplays on a page? I obviously want to highest quality resolution.

Thanks,

Have a look. The MP4 video is 3.2MB.

Thanks for your reply. The links, however, are not working.

You mean the links in my post?

They work on my iPad.

Otherwise, copy the links and paste them in the browser adressfield.

Copied and pasted both—still a no-go.

The links work.

Here are two solutions that may work for you :

1. type the characters.
2. open a new browser window and drag the links there.

Followed your suggestion, still no luck.

I get the following error in all cases:

There's not much I can do.

Perhaps your ISP doesn't like free domainnames.

I was more concerned what an usable file size would be for a video that auto plays.

Naturally, I want the highest resolution possible, but the file size can be too much. Today, just what is too much?

Use the "suck it and see" method. Try your video file to see if the quality is good enough and the load time is not too excessive. Adjust it as necessary.

The problem with doing stuff like this is that a large and increasing number of vistors are using tablets. If you don't create a separate site for tablet users with a background image instead of the movie your reputation as a web designer will plummet!

Got it. There are no established guidelines. Rock 'n roll as you go.

Thanks,
