A way to not receive domain renewal emails

| It would be great if when we receive an email that a domain is going to expire, or has expired, if we could go in and check a box (or something) that says we are not going to renew. Thus not receiving any more emails about it. I do not know if the number and timing of notifications is mandated by ICANN or not. | |

There is a the Disable Auto Renew option under Domains->My Domains->Manage Domains. Actually I am not 100% sure if that will stop the emails. ICANN requires that we notify customers 60, 30 and 7 days before expiration and then also once after expiration. I don't remember all the specific rules but our system is set up to adhere to ICANNs requirements. It helps protect both parties and any disputes with domain names. I don't believe there is anything we can change. I apologize for the inconvenience. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| No problem, or need to apologize. Turning off Auto Renew just tells you to login and take care of it. | |

So, every time I login, I get to see a Red box telling me that I owe money. I have asked for this to be removed. In 3 months when I receive a renewal notice for EW + Hosting.......if that Red box is there telling me I owe money for something I abandoned last September, I will walk away from EW. I owe no money and am sick of seeing that I do every time I login. This has actually caused me to not come to this forum too often. |

Hi Jim. This is the first time we are hearing about this. All I had to do was cancel the invoice and now this box no longer appears in your account. Each product/service is set to renew automatically, unless the customer specifies otherwise. In this case, you did not specify that you did not want the domain to automatically renew. This is why an invoice got generated. You didn't pay this invoice, so it remained as unpaid. Us, nor the system is able to determine your intentions with the domain, so it does not get marked as cancelled until we are given that notification. Hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have any questions. |

Thank you. I put this in this thread this morning, I could not find the thread about this that I had started before. I have since found it on page 2. I asked about this a couple times but either never got an answer or got kind of an answer. Thank you again. Would there be a way for the end-user to simply check a box that says 'I do not want to renew'? To make it that much easier. |

| Yes, there is a way. In your client area, you can go to Domains > My Domains > Active, and then click on the Auto Renew button which is located on the left hand side. From there you will be able to disable (or enable) the auto renew feature. When it is disabled, no invoice for the renewal of the domain will be issued, but the domain renewal/expiration emails will still be sent as per ICANN's requirements. | |
