EW V1.8.2 stuck in slow hell

I fired up 1.8.2 build 1407 tonight to start preparing for some Halloween pages. Last night it was fine. Tonight is crawling. Really crawling. Just typing in some header stuff was a mess. It wouldn't take any letters, then would shoot out what was in the buffer minus the first 2 or 3 characters then crawl again. I quit for the night. Paul - any ideas? Rebooting both the iMac and router made no difference. Activity monitor showed nothing sucking up all the CPU cycles. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |

Addition - EWApp is pulling 100% of CPU when dropping in a small picture. Activity monitor has it not responding at 99.7 - 100 % for about 30 seconds Then it recovers and the picture shows. Then it starts over when I do something else. Quote: Paul-RAGESW - 20/09/2015 10:59:08 What is the file of the picture? Hi Paul - It was a PNG - 218k. I commonly use PNG for the transparency. Pulling in a graphic with a delay and beach ball for about 15 seconds is a very common thing for me. Could I be running up against some headroom wall (?) This site has a TON of pictures. I haven't started to count them but there's many hundreds. Thanks. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |

It has a ton of pictures in the assets list or on the specific page? What else is on the page with the slow typing? Does it happen on all pages? ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Paul - It has a ton of pictures in the asset list. That's why I was hoping for a directory structure in it earlier. Many, many hundreds. There can be a significant number of pictures on each page. This is a graphics intensive site. And yes, it's becoming site wide. The delays started with pulling in and dropping pictures. Now it's any item dragged and dropped. Tonight I was dropping in a textedit box with about 50 words. Standard Arial Font, 15 pt. It was close to 60 seconds before the box would show the text then I could not move the cursor in the box for maybe another 60 seconds. Once it settled down I could move around the page okay - until the next time I tried to drag/drop something. I've already deleted any unused graphics (thanks for the ability to find them), but there weren't many and it made no difference. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |

Does this happen on a new site also?

I haven't created a new site to test it. Next on the plan. I'm using EW only for this one site so I'd have to create a test one. I'll report back after I give that a try. I should add the situation has improved a bit since going to El capitan 2 days ago. The delays are still there but about half of what they were before the update. Paul - Upgraded to 1.9 and the delay is a bit less, but still there. Giving this some thought...does EW save everytime something is changed or added? This is a big site and I can see where a backup could be the cause of the delay. BTW - the forum is not emailing when something is replied.
