Viewing Disappointment with Everweb

Disappointment with Everweb

User: David C. 10 years ago
I have been using Everweb for a couple of weeks now (v1.8.1) moving across from iWeb, and I am really disappointed with the way it loses assets. I spend time building a website, publish it, do all the saves I can possibly manage and yet when I close and re-open Everweb it has lost the assets, particularly in Imageslider. There doesn't seem to be a way to reconnect assets, so I have to re-build.

Also
Mask. When I add a mask and want to return to amend it I seem only to be able to remove the mask and have to start again.
Text. Is there a control to alter the character spacing? I can't find one and it is an essential tool for good design.

Despite all the widgets and facilities offered generally so far Everweb does not seem to me to be robust and reliable.
I think I may go back to iWeb which despite its no being longer supported and its lack of facilities has never caused me a moments disappointment.

Have others found this or I am doing something incorrectly?
I am seriously tempted to ask for my money back.

sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing.

I have never heard of the issue with the image slider but it sounds like a major issue.

have you tried deleting the image slider and adding it again?

Do you have steps to reproduce this?

Are you able to reproduce this?

For the masking if you press the mask button again for the masked image it should have your old mask dimensions there by default. You're not seeing this?

There is currently no character spacing option

I'm sorry you're not satisfied with EverWeb. I'll do everything i can to help you but if not we can issue a refund.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Losing assets seems to happen a lot. I have rebuilt the website from scratch, but losing assets still happens. I created a website using a Master page with an image in the header. The site was published successfully although the text underneath the image didn't finish up exactly where I had placed it. After closing and reopening Everweb the image was no longer connected to its asset. Sometimes when I have made alterations to the site it has worked, sometimes it just loses connections. It is very very frustrating.
As far as the masking is concerned following on from what you said if after a mask has been applied I go to the Format menu and hit 'mask' the mask does indeed return as it was, but the image has always moved, so while the mask is the same it is not in the same place on the image. There seems no way to slip the image around within the mask as there is in iWeb, so again very frustrating. I have watched all the tutorials and find that Everweb in theory does all and more than I want, but in practice it's a remarkable unstable unreliable environment.

Losing assets seems to be an odd issue - I never had anything like that happen....

The best way to figure this out is if you can provide a screen recording showing the issue.

You can record your screen using Quicktime which is in your Applications folder. Open Quicktime and select 'New Screen Recording' from the File menu.

Once you are done, your recording will be on your desktop. Please upload the .mov file to http://youtube.com, http://ge.tt or http://www.dropbox.com and send me the link
