Viewing ID protection

ID protection

User: Boris K. 8 years ago
I want to know if I buy a domain name with ID protection.
Will this prevent that ISDN will list the owner details on their websites like name and adres?

The company you pay for the protection is who gets listed if a search is done. Mine are bought through EW and have protection. When searched through whois, the name that comes up is enom.com with address in Kirkland, Washington. One of mine is www.mvgoogle.com, look and see what comes up. I hope that helps you out

I guess some people have a genuine reason to hide. Before you do so, it is important to realise that the domain Registry - and the Registry’s oversight body (like ICANN, or in Canada, CIRA) - regards whoever is listed in the domain whois record as the domain registrant to be the legal owner of the domain name.

Basically, you pay to register a domain name and then pay again to relinquish ownership.

Make sure you read the terms and conditions before you sign up for "privacy". Apparently some privacy services will sell your real info to anybody who offers to pay for it!

I chose to go with the protection for a few reasons. When I researched it I found that enom is highly regarded, is an approved ICANN partner for offering protection, and is recommended by those that steal domains (they cannot steal enom protected sites). I wanted to hide for several reasons.
I agree with Roddy on most of it. Do your research before spending the money.

I cannot speak for other providers but I HIGHLY recommend the ID protection when you purchase a domain with us. You will not relinquish ownership to anyone and it greatly reduces SPAM. Many spammers will look for public whois information to send you spam email. At this point, you should purchase the ID protection.
