Viewing 1.8.0 is a disaster!
1.8.0 is a disaster!

I made the foolish mistake of allowing the upgrade and after editing the site discovered that it would not 'update changes' only Crash. I then decided that as with a previous update it probably needed the whole site published so I tried that, and it did…. only it has trashed a large amount of text formatting etc - it still looks ok in EW, just not published (nothing to do with cache emptying and refreshing - I have 'been there, done that'). Decided to go back to 1.7.5 - launched it and updated changes, but of course the 1.8 version had altered all of my page files and screwed up text formatting so I decided I would need to republish the entire site - which I have been trying to do for the last 2 hours. It keeps hanging on publishing various 'Shape-X.png's and then bugs out of the publish. WHY OH WHY DID YOU RELEASE THIS APPALLING UPDATE!. I have this huge community website that I look after and it appears to be really damaged, maybe totally. I am hoping that I may get lucky and publish the whole thing once, then get rid of the red marked files allowing me to return to updates only, whatever way you look at it, this is a disaster - I certainly will not be updating the program again without substantial assurances. I thought the whole point of this software was that we less 'techie' users could rely on releases that were not 'Beta' releases? Honestly, I'm so angry right now, really angry. If I can't get it to publish - any suggestions? Scott |

Make sure you are using the updated version which is available for download in THIS topic and also select the correct one for the version of OS X you are using. You need to publish the whole site to make sure you upload the textstyles script which contains the formatting info. After publishing, open the site in Chrome and Firefoc - not Safari - and click the refresh button a couple of times. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! I must apologise to you all at Everweb for this. It is true that 1.8.0 would not upload and simply crashed, closing the program. After that, and the inability to publish having gone back to 1.7.5 I assumed that something was very wrong but that wasn't the case. 1.8.1 is working perfectly now, but yesterday was a different story: The website (www.piltonvillage.co.uk) is the community site for Pilton in Somerset, England. This is the home of the world famous Glastonbury Music Festival - my problems were with the provider, it would appear that all of the bandwidth was being used to stream Festival content and of course the servers would find it impossible to cope with my big upload over that time on our non-fibre connection and experience errors as a result - hence the freezing and timing-out issues. This morning The Who and all of the Television Companies have packed up and left, the fields look like a war zone, importantly the whole website uploaded first time, quickly, with no issues. Please accept my apologies, I will see if I can get fibre installed a little more quickly into the village to avoid a repeat of this next year, or maybe just avoid updating during the weekend which is the busiest (and frankly we are usually all down there in the fields anyway) Thanks again Scott |
