1.8 all audio files mp3 not playing, do not upgrade from 1.7

Lilah, double check that you are using the correct File Path to the audio files. It looks like they may be referencing your computer instead of the Assets list?

I pulled them from the assets list. Could you break that down for me, Jim? How can I check?

I go to the asset and right click and copy relative file path and paste it into notes and look at it. There may be a better way...
I can show you why I asked that. Go here and you will see screenshots of the file path being used for your commercial audio file, and the file path used for the audio file I just put up on that page, it plays just fine. Both file paths are highlighted and you should be able to see the difference between them.
Maybe delete the widgets, save the project, close EW (maybe restart comp), and put the 2 widgets back on and reload the audio files.

Thanks Jim. You're right, they are referencing my computer instead of the assets list. But I don't know how to fix that. I dragged the audio widget to the page and chose the mp3 file. Am I doing something wrong?

This is my semi-wild guess: it looks like the update changed the file path that audio was using to maybe the file path that EW used when the file was dragged into Assets. It looks the same with some others having the same issue.
My solution would be to delete the page, delete the files from Assets, shut down EW and restart comp, empty trash, open EW drag files back into Assets, make page and put the players on it, and add the files to them. You do not seem to have much on the page, so it may only take a few minutes.
I tend to do all that because of my experiences with software issues. My experience tells me that when there is this type of issue, it will kind of get stuck in a loop of doing the wrong thing until everything associated with it is reset to new. If that makes sense to you

Oh and I believe the multiple postings happens when you are the last to post in a thread and then refresh the page from inside the thread. I refresh pages on the main forum page and the sub-forum pages, but not inside a thread

Lisa, I visited your site and it looks OK now. Did you solve this problem?

Paul,

No I haven't solved the problem. The audio player widget still does not work. I'm embedded sound cloud instead because I need the audio files on my website, but this is a temporary solution. I'm hoping the next update will solve this problem?

All this stuff about filepaths is just confusing the issue. I pointed out at the beginning of this thread that the file path being to the local version is the problem. This is not caused by a user error since the Choose button selects the file.

When you updated to 1.8.1, did you open every page of the site to allow the widgets to refresh and then publish the entire site from the File drop down menu?

I would suggest that you create a test page and exclude it from the navigation menu by unchecking the box in the Page inspector. Add a couple of audio players to this page, publish to the server and post the URL here.

I am looking to do a screenshare with someone you can reliably reproduce this problem. Please contact support if you have a website that reliably does this so we can set up a screenshare.

We are unable to reproduce this issue so I am looking to watch someone else reproduce it on their computer.

Please note that you can also do this;

I need to see the Console log to get some extra details about the issue. Particularly in EverWeb 1.8.1 build 1408 there is extra information in the console log which could help.

Please do the following;
1. Go to the top right of your screen and click the magnify glass to open Spotlight
3. Type 'Console' into that field to open the Console application. This provides debug information for us
4. From the Console app go to the File menu in the top left and select 'Save a Copy As...'
5. Save that file to your desktop and then send that file to me so I can take a look at it.
