Viewing Default Navigation
Default Navigation

I really don't spend enough time with the default navigation so I am missing a lot of the areas where there is room for improvement. Today I was testing out adding a little CSS to create a custom background to the navigation. This is really straightforward if anybody wants to try it. Here are some things I noticed... Navigation widget reverts to default height after any changes in Widget Settings. This is a real pain and causes the navigation to publish wrong if not noticed. Mouseover Bold causes the navigation to jump. Border right separator should be proportional to the text and not the whole block. The navigation CSS is not very well put together. If you look at it in WebDesign using the highlight feature in the Preview, you can see the problem. I think I understand what you are saying. Since we are working on a new navigation menu code, I won't be fixing this particular issue.

A while back, I was asked to create the CSS for a menu for a potential client. When I asked her why she didn't just find one via Google and copy it, the answer was that she couldn't find one that she could adjust to her own requirements. I spent a while comparing different ways of doing the CSS and, sure enough, most of them left something to be desired. The highlight feature in WebDesign.app was my main tool for seeing how things were put together and why some didn't work too well. It's incredibly useful for figuring out problems with positioning and is the main reason I would recommend it over similar apps. I wonder who thought this up? Probably some clever eskimo during the long winter nights! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
