Selecting stacked items

User: pumpkin 10 years ago
Hey there,

I just started with EasyWeb and really like it so far, though it seems a bit sloppy at times. So, I've created a shape, filled it with a background colour, sent it to the back and put the nagivation widget on top of it. Both sized 32 pixels high and using the full page width. Is there a trick to select the shape below the navigation bar? So far I always have to move the navigation bar away to select the underlying shape. Or is there even a way to fill the background of the navigation bar? That'd be much easier ;)

Cheers,
Darian

Hi,

If the shape one top covers the entire area of the shape behind it use the selection widget by clicking and dragging on any white space so that covers the shapes you want to select. Then hold down the shift key and click on the top shape to unselect the top shape.

You can fill each navigation menu button right now with the fill options, but not the entire background. We are working in that.

That doesn't seem to work for me Paul. I created two boxes with the same width and height, filled one with yellow and sent it to the back, filled the other one with blue and brought it to the front.

When I click and drag the mouse to select them all, I can see a little "shadow" at the upper dragging handles. I guess that tells me I have both shapes selected. Shift-clicking then removes those shadows. If I then drag the shape, I always move the one that it at the front, not the one behind it.

And thanks for the heads up concerning the navigation background :)

Update:

Looks like it works. I can select the underlying shape this way, but I can't move it. When I try to move the shape, I'm always moving the shape on top. That was my original question. Sorry :?

For an item like the navigation its probably better to just modify the CSS rather than place an extra background shape on every page.

Pasting this into the site wide head code box...

... gives me this...

Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move it, or the Inspector->Metrics Inspector
