Viewing Google Fonts

Google Fonts

Is it possible to have EverWeb NOT insert the link to a Google hosted font if we choose to self host them in the interests of faster download time.

While testing the method outlined in this topic, the link to the Google hosted font was automatically inserted when using the Fonts window to select it which kind of defeats the point of self hosting.

No, this is not likely something we will be implementing anytime soon.

Due to the new Data protection law in Europe gdpr-info.eu it is now a problem to use Google fonts, respectively the link to Google fonts. It would be a good idea for all european Everweb-users to get rid of the link, as Roddy said.

I cannot find any information from Google on how Google Fonts works with GDPR.

However, the next version of EverWeb will have an option to not automatically embed the Google Font Link so you can embed the style information yourself and embed the Font on your website.

There's an intersting discussion on Github.

Further down, there is an official statement from Goog;e ...

Google is working hard to prepare for the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and is committed to helping our customers and partners succeed under the GDPR. Our existing Google Fonts FAQ provides information on how Google Fonts handles data about users.
