Page description

I have a general question. On each page, there is a place for a "page description". Is there any "better" way to describe the page for SEO or is this just for my information while building the site? Thanks in advance

Some search engines use your page description to help categorize your page, but more important, your home page description may appear in search results! A clear and persuasive description may NOT boost your search engine ranking, but it can encourage prospective customers to visit your site.

Ok thanks. That is good info.....much appreciated. So, if I use the sitemap automator app from rage, this page description thing may or may not be present when folks search for us? Am I understanding that correctly?

A site map basically tells the search engine what pages are in your website for indexing.

The page description will help with how it is displayed in Search results:

I see your Mac setup and have one more question if you dont mind. For the organization we are starting, we need to get a laptop Macbook Pro. I do a lot of photoshop, FCPX video editing etc. Do you think a Macbook Pro with 16gb RAM and an i7 will be ok for that sort of thing? The one we are looking at has the same specs as yours so I thought you may know. Thanks

The MacBook Pro would be a good set-up. I didn't quite have the money for a MacBook when I bought my current machine but, would have if given the chance. I would definitely bump your Ram to 16GB

The macbook pro has a real video card in conjunction with the integrated video which is huge when video editing

Yeah, the Macbook we are looking at has 16gRAM. I have an iMac at home with 16 and it is fast for what we need. Great, thanks for your help and advice.

The "better way" for SEO is to realise how the spiders index a page. Focus on the keywords placed in the title and page headings.

One of the reasons that sites created with drag and drop style apps don't do too well with SEO is the fact that the search engine spiders place a lot more significance on the content of the tags than the

.

When you create a "heading" in a text box in EW its actually a paragraph and the crawlers won't put much importance on it.
Some people simply refuse to learn anything about code. A little goes a long way here and we're not talking rocket science.

If you are designing sites that are in any way commercial - either for your self or others - you really need to learn this stuff.
