What's the best graphics file type for EW?

I have one of the new "retna" screens, so I know how much smaller things can look on those monitors. So I took one of my images from my web site to see how big it is, and it's 535 pixels long. But when I copied it to my desktop and opened it in Photoshop, it looked MUCH smaller. About half as long. Both, in the finder, and in PS - at 100%

I understand that Apple has done some funny business with the system so all the graphics don't disappear in the new high res monitors, which I don't understand, but how is it that my images appear twice as big on the browser than they do in "real life"? Is the browser doing something? Or is iWeb doing something?

iWeb and the browser are showing it at the actual pixel height/width. So they are essentially making it larger and retina screens.

Photoshop is showing it at half the height/width, with double the pixel density. You'll notice the pixel looks sharper that way in Photoshop while it will look blurry in iWeb/browser.

It's confusing I know. We are going to work on better automatic conversion, for example I want EverWeb to export the correct sized images even without the @2x part if it is possible.

As and creators of content, it is important to learn these things if you want everything to look and work correctly for the "normal" people.

Also, just FYI, retina compatible images are still not suitable for print. The only real way to protect your images online is to watermark them (just to answer your previous reply).
