IPTC data within the image

I have worked on my images in Aperture so that they have the correct size and include all IPTC data such as title, description, contact information and of course a copyright (not that this makes much difference as my images have been used without authorisation before). However, when I drag them onto my Everweb page some of them change from a jpg to a png and have a completely different title name such as shape_pic4.png I think this may have something to do with the name of the images being similar, so everweb changes them to the above png title? Do I need to use a third party widget to keep the IPTC data on the image when I want to add them to my webpage? Also does the IPTC really make a difference to search engines or should I just stay with a relevant image name and just add alt text? Thanks again in advance Schtief |

There doesn't appear to be any evidence to support the claim that metadata - IPTC, XMP, or Exif - is being read or used by the major search engines. For best SEO results the image should be inserted using an HTML figure element with descriptive image file name, alt text and a caption inside the figcaption element.
