Question: How to make EverWeb the default site to open when typing the basic site URL: shuttletpe.us I'm in the middle of converting my website from iWeb to EverWeb. Both published sites are located in the public_html directory of my domain home directory along with several other sub-directories. The iWeb site appears by default. The EverWeb sub-directory is named "Temp" with the thought of making it default at some arbitrary tipping point then referencing the old iWeb site until all of its pages are copied and deleted. I fear I have "published" myself into a corner already. If it is feasible, I wouldn't mind trying to rename the sub-directories in the c-Panel file manager and matching the changes in the respective iWeb and EverWeb account settings. I also realize some bookkeeping within the existing iWeb file would be required after this change to ensure the sub-pages matchup. Whether or not I have to republish everything, I looking for what swaps the priority and makes the EverWeb site display first. A recent thread in this the bug forum sheds some understanding but I'm unable to bridge the gap in understanding the details. |

Open the index.html file in the root of the server in a HTML Editor. http://shuttletpe.us/index.html and change the redirect to the new folder from this : <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= TPE_HISTORY/Chronology.html" /> to this : <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Temp/" /> Or publish your new site to the root of the server. Then the index.html file will be overwritten. |

I see two options to edit the index.html file in the cPanel File Manager: "Edit File", and "Edit File with Code Editor". Being paranoid and unfamiliar with mucking around in cPanel, I'm assuming if I go that route then either would have a "cancel" function. Does this mean I can continue to publish using the existing settings in iWeb and EverWeb? The plan is to delete the pages in iWeb as I copy them over to EverWeb which means publishing changes in both as I go. |

When you're ready to make your EverWeb site the default site and replace your iweb one, just remove what you have in the sub directory field and publish.

I'm finally ready to deleting my former iWeb site after transferring the content to my EverWeb site. The last reply makes the most sense to me and my plan is: 1. Delete the old iWeb site "TPE_HISTORY" from the server 2. In EverWeb FTP Server Details, just delete the subfolder "Temp" text and then go EverWeb File>Publish Entire Site. What should I expect my new server folder in the Root Directory be called? My biggest concern is will this delete all of the other subfolders shown? They are the various photo albums linked to my EverWeb site. The desired result being the new EverWeb "Home" pages displays when the shuttletpe.us URL is entered into the browser Thanx! I am really looking forward to spending time enhancing my site now that moving the content is done as well as putting EverWeb 1.8 to work when released. |

I don't know which image you are referring to here, can you clarify? EverWeb won't delete anything on your server, it will just publish your EverWeb site. If any file names/folders exist on your server and they are the same as an EverWeb file or folder name then those will be overwritten. For example, the default index.html will be overwritten so when you publish your EverWeb site it will be the default site that appears when you enter your domain into your browser. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

In my first post today, I accidentally attached two of the same screenshots of my EverWeb sidebar showing the name of the project (with publishing settings) and the "Home" page listed immediately beneath. The second post attached a screenshot of all of the folders in my root directory of which "Temp" holds the EverWeb files and "TPE_HISTORY" contains the iWeb files. The other folders e.g. other_vantage_points and last_three_flights are self contained JAlbum photo projects. From your last post, it looks like I'm good to go. The world won't end if I have problems, its only time. Speaking of time, its Sunday, go out and relax/take the day off. Thanx! |
