How do I make the EW default navigation dropdown visible on an Android device?

I don't have any experience of Android devices but, if you do a Google search, you will find that this OS doesn't support any type of CSS hover drop down menu.
Hovers are not supported in iOS either. The dropdown will open with a click but there is no way to close it unless some javascript is added. You shouldn't use this type of navigation for any website which is likely to be visited using a mobile device - tablet or smart phone.

I'm working on a widget for a flyout, two level navigation menu which switches to a tap to open/close on mobile devices using media queries. It is an advanced widget and will require the user to know the basics of HTML list structure. I'll send you a copy when it's done - if it works!

EW has a default navigation bar widget. EW has the possibility to make desktop and mobile pages. Also it has directories with childpages etc. wich creates a dropdown menu. So I don't understand why I shouldn't use this type of navigation. On an android device, tapping the directory will open the dropdown but flashes away. I made all directories redirect to the first child page. When the customer uses an android tablet and can't see the dropdown pages, I have a problem. He understands he has to swipe to see his pages in a larger, bigger size but don't understand why he can't see the pages in the dropdownmenu. I'm hoping EW comes with a solution for this because every EW user has the same problem when he uses the default navigation.

It is an android issue

The default navigation in EW isn't suitable for Mobile. Everyone uses the flyout 3 bar menu icon, even EW on their mobile version of the site. I too find it frustrating that EW's navigation allowances are so limited. I'd be stuck without Roddy and his everwebcodebox instructions! Thankfully, the HTML snippet widget allows us to inject what we need but it's a lot of extra work.

Version 1.7 fixes the issue with Android devices and drop down navigation menus. See this blog post for more details.

I upgraded EW to 1.7. After that, I published a few 'entire sites' to be sure the latest EW 1.7 settings are coming through. Then I tried a number of mobile devices including 'Windows' and 'Android' phones and tablets. The drop down navigation work perfectly! Thank you EW for fixing this issue.

You're welcome! We're still working on further enhancements for the navigation menu.
