Viewing Widget not 'Generating Preview'

Widget not 'Generating Preview'

User: Gary S. 9 years ago
I'm using the Codebox 'Rectangle' widget and sometimes it generates the preview almost as soon as I drag it onto the Everweb canvas, but most often, it won't show. This makes it difficult to see what's happening on the webpage unless I hit the Preview or Publish button to show what my website will be like in terms of colour, size comparison, etc. How can I get it to "Generate Preview"?

Yep. Plenty of threads on this topic. I still have trouble with plenty of third-party code (Vimeo, Sublime Video) not previewing for me or auto-updating on the canvas.

Restart your computer see if this helps. I am not yet able to reliably reproduce this and don't have this problem in my Tests.

Since EverWeb uses the safari engine for previews it could be related to a problem with it. A restart should help fix it. Let me know

@ Gary S - I did reply to your email yesterday but it was rejected due to the fact that your email quota had been reached. Set up your mailbox on the server as a redirect to Gmail (or other) address.

Quitting and relaunch the app will, in most cases, solve the problem but there is a slight twist to this! If you drag a widget onto the page and it is unresponsive, quitting and relaunching will result in the same grey box. What you need to do is make a slight adjustment to a widget setting and the content will appear. I quickly adjust the widget size with a drag handle and then do a command Z and that usually fixes it.

To someone who doesn't know this, it must look as though the widget isn't working and I have had quite a few complaints to this effect.

It seems to me that, when this happens, the application is trying to refresh all the widgets at once for some reason. The best thing to do is quit and walk away. When you return, all will be normal again.

The other day I was trying to get a page finished when this behaviour started. I was entering text into a widget and would only get about a sentence done before it stopped responding. I kept going by quitting relaunching very time and gave up after half a dozen attempts.
