Crashing when trying to publish

User: Yelena 11 years ago
I have been working on my project and everything was working until all of a sudden EW started to crash while trying to publish. It first happened in 1.7B FC, then in 1.6 version. I am not able to send report because another little window pops up saying "An exception of class IOException was not handled. The application must shut down." Error number 104...

Please help!!!!

That's a file write error indicating something wrong with your hard drive. It could be incorrect permissions on the location you're saving your file to, not enough disk space or a few other reasons.

First try restarting your computer then try repairing permissions with the disk utility software in your utilities folder. Also verify you have enough disk space

Let me know if you still have issues.

Paul,

I did follow your instructions and repaired disk permissions. It seemed to work - I was able to publish to FTP from EW. But the next time the same thing happened. I have no problems publishing to a Folder, then via Cyberduck....

I'm not sure exactly, I would need more information.

I would try restarting and then using the publish entire site feature in EverWeb. See if that works.

Sounds like some kind of problem with your temporary system folder as that is where EverWeb is trying to write to when publishing to ftp.

If you still have problems, check the console for any error messages from EverWeb. Open the console by entering Console into spotlight.

I will try that Paul. I want to tell you though - again - that the reply to this message never came via email... I just happened to look at the Forum again. I noticed that usually when you or someone answers the post the first time I get an email notification but nothing after the first one...Please fix!!!!

Paul, I tried a few things. It seems that the problem happens with one particular project... I opened Console and although it is a little beyond my technical knowledge I saw EverWeb report in System Diagnostic Reports and will send it to you via Email.

It looks like it may have something to do with one of the images in one of your image galleries.

If you have more than one image gallery you may need to try a process of elimination where you delete each gallery and publish to see if it still crashes. Once you narrow down the gallery you can narrow down the specific image.

It could be a corupt or damaged image that is causing the error. I'm not sure.

I'm also not 100% sure if this is the actual cause.

If you can do that and report on the results we can work from there.

Also for the replies here, you should get only one reply until you return to this thread while logged in. Then if there are any new threads you'll get notified. Otherwise you'll get only one notification.

Paul, I will try to figure out things with the Gallery...
As for notifications - I did come to this thread several times and I never got any notifications for any new threads but the first one...
