Viewing Contact Form Not Working

Contact Form Not Working

User: Jack P. 9 years ago
I have a website which is hosted on godaddy and my contact form is not working

http://www.ranchomurietacorvettes.com/events/events.html is the link to it and
http://www.ranchomurietacorvettes.com/events/rsvpform.html is where the contact form is located

could it be that unless i use ever web hosting the contact form won't work

thanks

You need to move the ew_PHP folder into the root folder on the server. At the moment it's probably in the "events" folder.

This is an ongoing problem. That seems to come up every few weeks... I tried putting a ew contact widget on a page of my site, still didn't work.
It's in the site folder in the public.html folder which as root as I think I should need. There is no event folder, and ew seems to add a few folders with contact in them...

Of course you have no event folder.

You have no site called 'event' like the OP has.

The OP has his site uploaded to a sub folder named "events"

If you are uploading using the built in FTP and you have the sub folder in the file path field then the PHP should be upload to the correct place. This is conjecture on my part as I haven't used the built in FTP.

When I tested the form I was uploading from a local folder, to a sub folder on the server, using an FTP app. To get the form to work I had to change the location of the PHP folder to get the form to work.

I don't use the built in FTP to up load... My PHP folder is on the same level as the index page for said site... I've found that as of now I feel more confident when using Foxy or jot for my forms.. Also I've had good luck with "Web Form Builder" by CoffeeCup.com

Update... The sites are in sub folders, as I have a main URL then other sites on that same server. Would that make a difference?

Yes, it would. Try moving the PHP folder outside of the sub folder. You do, of course, have to turn on PHP on the sever if it isn't already.

Eh I'm not convinced that that would be the answer. I have a main URL and sub urls on one server as I'm sure a lot of people do it's typical.
If the ew files have to be in the very top layer in the public.html folder, that's fine I guess, just means that people with multiple urls in their public folder can't use the widget except on the main url.
If I started moving things around it would make it really hard for the file to be found with out changing the path in the html on the page.

Nothing wrong with the code.

Look in the spam box. Happened to me.

It's a while since I tested the contact form and I seem to remember that the widget was updated to overcome the problem I experienced. I wonder if you are using a version of EverWeb that is older than 1.6?

I've had a contact form widget on the back burner for a while so I decided to finish it. It uses the same PHP script as the default version.

I tested it on a top level page and also on a page in a directory. In both cases it uploads the PHP folder to the root folder (alongside the main index.html file for the site) and gives the correct path to that folder.

The form may not look like the EverWeb version but it is basically just the same with a number of styling options. See it on this Test Page.

I'm running 1.6.
I didn't find a link to buy/download your contact widget. I'd like to try it!

Did you create the form in v1.6? If not, try doing so.

I only just made it today and I haven't published the page about it yet.

Ok.. I may have figured out the intermittent sending of messages. Two things you have to do.

1. Use a valid email address when filling out the form.
2. Make sure you refresh the page before trying the test again.
