Viewing HTML5 Widgets

HTML5 Widgets

User: Roddy 9 years ago
The HTML5 section of the EverWeb Codebox website has 54 new widgets. Most of these are for making use of the new HTML5 elements to greatly improve SEO and speed up the process of laying out and constructing web pages for both computers and mobile devices.

Note that most these widgets require a very basic knowledge of HTML - which will take about 10 minutes to learn! The info about the why and the how of it all is contained in the HTML5 section of the website. Please take the time to read this before purchasing the widgets.

There are a few miscellaneous widgets for creating items like sticky social media links, multi colored angled gradient backgrounds, text/image rotate using CSS, Q & A FAQ widget and so on…

The website was designed to work well on tablets due to the increasing number of potential visitors using these devices. It uses a mega menu which has been adapted to close on mobile devices by tapping anywhere off the menu itself.

Although these widgets have been modified for the narrower widget settings panel in EverWeb V1.7, they will also work in V1.6 for those who choose not to upgrade due to the limitations of V1.7.

I built the HTML5 Widget website at what I consider the maximum width to allow the site to be viewed on tablets without readability problems. Although I tested the widgets in V1.7beta, I had to revert to V1.6 to create the actual website.

Since I am running OS X 10.8.5 on this particular computer, I couldn't preview anything in the iOS simulator when using 1.7.

When publishing to a local folder to launch the pages in the simulator as I would normally do, I first have to open every page which uses jQuery in an editor to fix the link. This is far too time consuming - especially when working on larger sites.

Also, like anybody who uses code entry, I quite often need to publish to a local folder and launch pages in an editor to troubleshoot or refine code. Again, I need to fix that jQuery link every time.

It is a great relief to return to V1.6 after working with 1.7 for any length of time. The overall glare and indistinct page file names are kind of tiring after a lengthy session using the new version.

A new widget as been added to the Navigation section to create a sticky smooth scroll to the top arrow. The button was designed at Darren's suggestion for his Synergy School Radio Website since he wanted an up, chevron style arrow and a transparent background.

The widget instructions are here…
