publishing only "site changes" is a waste of time !

User: spyboynola 11 years ago
I quit doing "changes only" many versions ago, and recently tried again, still does not work properly, links change color for no apparent reason. There seems to be no rhythm or reason for the link changes. Anyone figured out how to publish changes only? Also I always thought that every time I publish it would first change folder content and then upload to server! Not so! So should I publish to folder every time also? Is that the problem with changes only? does anyone have this problem and have a solution?

I have never experienced this problem, unless you are referring to on of these issues.

No, it won't publish to a folder on your computer when you publish to EverWeb or to FTP.

If you want a local copy then yes you should.

I haven't seen issues like this before. See my above suggestion. Posting your website URL when it has issues would also be helpful if the above does not solve your problem.

Thanks, 2 more questions,
1) when i use web crusher the prompt is to upload via ftp, or to the folder. I have been uploading to folder thinking that when I republished the slimmed down site would upload directly to EverWeb. Not so? i have to go thru an FTP instead of EW? FTP has never worked for me as well as EW has.
2) I have to put a unlinked page first in order or the links for the regular page ( if first in order) have problems, if i put a unlinked page first in order no problem, I use that page to store graphics and grouped text used all over the website with one link out. Silly?
ok 3 questions
3) do i have to redo widgets installed on site after an update if the widget is involved in update or does it update automatic ..
Thanks for your time.

1. No, WebCrusher does not work like that. It isn't really needed with EverWeb and the features it does provide will soon be built into EverWeb.

2. I don't really understand what you are referring to here. You are creating a page that is not in the navigation bar to store grouped items and images to copy and paste elsewhere? That shouldn't effect anything?

3. If a widget is updated you should make sure that page is marked as changed so it publishes, or you can publish your entire site. You should verify that it looks the way you want though. You do not need to delete the widget and re-add it though.

Great

my site is divided into three different sites , on the 2 sub sites if i put a page that is navigatable, as the first file, links return to blue, if i put a page that is not navigatable everything is groovy I use that page to store graphics and reused text groups. I think it might be an issue with the html/index name. Of course I don't understand exactly what that means, I only know that is what the file gets named that way when published
3. If a widget is updated you should make sure that page is marked as changed so it publishes, or you can publish your entire site. You should verify that it looks the way you want though. You do not need to delete the widget and re-add it though.

great again!
Thanks for your time, while i would love to understand the html/index file, reply at your leisure I know you guys are working on more important things that are good for me. Thanks
