Tutorials please!

Can we have Video ... written tutorials on the basics from the outset please? especially for absolute beginners to website design like myself.

May be if the written tutorials are applied now the more experienced people on here can help by adding to the content?

I would appreciate some help today so I can get started this evening!

The written and video tutorials are currently still in production. Since we are making some slight modifications on the user interface (mostly to the widget icons) we have yet to release the instructions. We will begin doing so as soon as this last modification is complete.

Was there anything in particular you were hoping to learn how to do, or were you just interested in the basics?

If there is something specific you are having trouble with, let us know and we will help guide you in the right direction.

It really depends on what kind of website you want to design!

One of the main downsides to software like iWeb was that the user interface is more like that of a DTP (Desk Top Publishing) app than a web design one. This means that you can create a website without any knowledge of web design.

The problem is that you will probably create a monster that doesn't perform well and takes too long to download in the browser. Good website design is about what you leave out more than what you put in.

You don't have to learn code HTML, CSS and java script - just understand what it is and where it is placed in an HTML document.

Website layout is often misunderstood by the drag and drop community "experts" as is the difference between designing for print media and the web.

While you are waiting for the EasyWeb documentation, try to learn the basics of web design, layout and publishing. If you get stuck, ask questions in this forum. It wouldn't hurt to learn a little about HTML which is really easy now with the advent of HTML5!

Try to avoid taking advice from people like me who have used iWeb for too long. Some of us are having a hard time adapting to the new, better and more advanced techniques of EasyWeb. Some are still advocating the use of out of date and redundant techniques that should have died with iWeb.

We all need to be patient and wait for the final release of EasyWeb before unleashing our website designs on the unsuspecting public.

We posted a very brief guide here. If you have specific questions, please post it in that forum and we will improve the Manual;

Thanks for the tutorial
Can you please add a basic guide of how to add SEO for each page and for publishing and any tips to be considered whilst building the site with SEO in mind. I would like to be able to wrap my head around incorporating it from the beginning. Thanks

We'll be releasing an SEO For EasyWeb Video Course in a few months time. In the meantime, here are things you want to consider when doing SEO in EasyWeb;

1) Title Tag
2) Description (less for SEO, more for converting users who find your site in search results)
3) Page Names (left handed golf clubs is more informative than page4
4) Site content - Make sure your site has great content on it and that the keywords you are targeting are present in the content
5) Keywords - Aim for one primary keyword per page, and one secondary keyword. Do not choose keywords which will be near impossible to rank for (ie do not target 'golf clubs, but target 'left handed golf clubs', or 'golf clubs for sale in dallas texas'). Make sure to choose keywords users are actually searching for. See this tutorial to learn more;

http://www.ragesw.com/blog/2011/04/16/s ... -research/

6) Image names - If you are using images, give them names with your keywords in them (ex. left-handed-golf-clubs.jpg instead of img90324.jpg)
7) Linking - When using keywords in your content, or any where on your site, place links to other pages on your site using the keyword as the anchor
8) Header tags - Utilize header tags in HTML Snippets (ex.

Primary Keyword Here

,

Secondary Keyword Here

Headings are really important of SEO but they are complicated slightly by having to add styles.

If you want to raise your web design game above beginner level, this page will let you know what's involved and has a link to some freeware that will write the styles for those who don't want to learn CSS...
