Everweb Freezes When trying to Publish - EVERY TIME!

I'm very frustrated trying to publish my webste that I have been working on for the past 6 months. Finally the day came to publish and it turned out to be crap day! I tried to publish via FTP within Everweb - freezes up not far from the beginning. Tried FileZilla and there are so many files that it never stopped (32000+). It is a large site. Trying Filezilla again for the 3rd time after trying many more failed attemps with the Everweb FTP. I will be updating the site often is why I do not want to use FileZilla, as the built in FTP would be nicer (if it worked). Any ideas what the probelm is anyone? My old version of the site is still live but half working, some pages work, some do not. Hope to get this resolved soon...thanks for any help. Alan Last edit 11 years ago |

Are you publishing to the EverWeb server - or another one?

I'm publishing to Hostgator. Filezilla finished it's publishing but the site is not working. The new pages do not even show up, but the files seem to be on the server. I had it overwrite all the existing files, but they are all still there. Kinda lost what to do now - any ideas? Thanks...

Still trying...deleting all files with Filezilla that are EW site related to get my old version of site back, will try again with EW FTP... Very frustrating... Last edit 11 years ago |

I have deleted ALL files from my hosting for this domain. My old site is GONE! Now I am trying to upload the new Everweb version with FTP within EW and it just freezes up as usual not far from when it starts to upload. The status bar just stops showing any new file upload status. What is going on with this app!!! It took me 6 months to get this site right now I can't even upload it from the EW app... Right now as I type it has stopped uploading and my Mac is over heating with the fan raging on. If I click the stop button, it will stop...then I try again the publishing and it starts the uploading process but stops after maybe 10-20 files...HELP! |

If you uploaded the files with an FTP app and the site doesn't load in the browser then the problem is on your server.

I dont know why I'm getting repeat messages on this thread, I only put in once. Anyway, Roddy, tell me why the EW App stops uploading after a few minutes? I click stop and then re-publish...EW finds where it left off and continues to upload site, but in small increments, them stops, I have to repeat this over and over and over and over and over.....blahblah....etc. UPDATE: I have updated the mame servers from what my cPanel says they are for my site. I still use the old name server names for Filezilla and I can still conect to my hosting. I out the new ones in EW app and so far I have had a successful 5.20 minutes if uploading from EW - never got that far before. Maybe Roddy was right...why wouldl the old name servers still work with Filezilla and not very long with Everweb? Weird... OH SPOKE TO SOON ... Everweb freeze up at 7 minutes into upload with new name servers...aaaAAAHHHHHH! I'm loosing $50 per day thanks to this EW App! |

Alan, I've just finished changing over from iWeb and uploaded just under 2GB of data via EW FTP. The only issues I had, apart from it taking over 30 hours on my slow adsl connection, if I hid EW the upload would stop at the end of the current file, but would start again once I opened the EW window. And it would also stop uploading if my monitor went to sleep, I think that was because my mouse and keyboard are connected through it. I also used Cyberduck to load some files without any issue. I'd be checking with your web host to see if they have an answer. Noel |

Hostgator caches your website automatically. If you upload changes and don't see them on your site verify you have the righr directly path and that your website isn't cached by Hostgator. I've seen this problem a number of times with them. As for publishing check your console (enter console in Spotlight) to see if EverWeb left any messages in there that can be helpful for figuring out why it's stopping. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| Hi Noel, Yes mine did a bit of the same but I have my Mac set to not sleep or not even have the dispaly go off to stop that from happening and it did it anyway. What it is doing now is loading a few files for a few minutes, then freezes. I stop it and restart upload and it recognizes what it has already done and starts there and gets a bit further before freezing again. This is going to take a long time. I never had this problem with iWeb FTP. I really don't think it is on my sever side because it is logging in to it...seems the EW app times out or something. FRUSTRATING!! | |

Also do you have version 1.6 of EverWeb? Make sure you have the latest version.

Hey Paul, Yes there is a thousand or so messages in Console about Everweb. Which ones would you like to see? I got a lot of "changing file name because it starts with a space". And this happened about the same time EW has stopped again: "10/8/14 2:29:34.252 PM coreservicesd[71]: SFLEntryBase::ListHasChanged mach_msg returned 10000004d". And this was the second to last message before it froze up again: "10/8/14 2:29:33.586 PM Console[810]: setPresentationOptions called with NSApplicationPresentationFullScreen when there is no visible fullscreen window; this call will be ignored. Currently it has stopped again at about the 10 minute mark on a clock dial. A long way to go before 60. Yes; I have 1.6, build 1287 I have never had a problem with Hostgator, so I don't think it is server side. I have uploaded some massive Amazon affiliate e-commerce scripts before with no problem, one site being 2000 pages. It seems it is EW. Last edit 11 years ago |

I gave up again on EW FTP - Trying Filezilla again. My site is starting to show up in pieces. Doing a few 301 redirects because EverWeb uses the /index.html at the end of their URL's. Did not know that either... Please work on EW FTP Publishing you guys. I wonder, after all the site is published with FZ and I adjust a little of it, will EW notice this and can publish via EW instead of FZ every time? EverWeb notices existing files on the sever already during publishing (before freezing up). |
