How can I return to the homepage when I hit 'HOME' at a lower part of the page than the first time.

The website I'm designing has a minimalistic opening. After opening, you scroll down to the 'meat' of the page. After going to a different page within the site I'd like to return to 'the meat' as I call it and not return to the minimalistic original opening, or the 'top' of the page but further down. It could become annoying if every time you returned you had to scroll down.

Here's my homepage. I'd like it to return to after the calendar area.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

You would use anchors to achieve this. More info here…

Use relative rather than absolute URLS. Find out more about this here…

Roddy, I'm having a problem making it work. I purchased and installed your 'ewlayout' widgets (2 other packs of widgets before that one) and am trying to use your widgets exclusively when they team at Everweb doesn't have one.

The homepage is http://www.danapointlife.org. One of the links is in the page and called 'Majestic Project' (in a box). When you click on 'Majestic Project' you're taken to the page. At the top of the page is a 'Home' button that takes you back to the 'danapointlife.org' page. I'd like to make a 'click' on that button take you back to that page but further down on the 'danapointlife.org' homepage (after the mission statement) using only your widgets.

Would you try to explain to this limited brain the procedure. I was going to send you an email direct but you're pretty tied in with Everweb so I'm posting it here.

When I first started making widgets I created the smooth scrolling anchor pair which allows you to scroll - rather than jump - to any point on the same page.
This obviously doesn't work when you want to get to an anchor on another page because you can't smooth scroll between pages!

Until now, nobody has requested a widget to jump to an anchor on another page. I will apply my few remaining brain cells to this ASAP.

I see that you are using an EverWeb created shape for the link button. This won't work in a widget and isn't the best way of doing it anyway. The widget would need to use a text or an image link. I'll make one with both options.

The Button Widget, which you already have, could be used to create the link and I will include instructions for this. I know it is quite a complicated widget but it is worth the effort to use this for buttons rather than a shape or another image.

I'll email you when it's done.

Thanks very much. I would think that a widget to jump to an anchor of a different page would be used quite a bit. A kind of 'go back to where you left off' concept.

Thanks again for your support. I'm really starting to have fun with Everweb and your widgets.

You should have received an email with the widgets by now!

The pair of widgets work the same as the ones shown on this page…

http://everwebcodebox.com/widgetbox/layout/anchor-hyperlink.html

The main difference is that the link can be either text or image and the anchor goes on another page.

Normally an anchor like this would be created within an HTML heading on the target page. To make it simple to use, I created the anchor as a small square. This contains the anchor text but is hidden so that it can be placed anywhere convenient on the target page.

You can also use the widgets to send visitors to a particular point on a page of another website that you have created if you use an absolute URL in the link.
