Password Protection for Standalone Users - Please!

EverWeb one-Click users have the advantage to use password protection, but we don't. Please make it possible for standalone EW users to use and work with the password protection feature too. The second request is, to make it possible to password protect not only directions, but also single pages. I want to give my customers a link, where they should be able to enter a password to get into a specific page and download files from there etc. I'm not a fan for solutions from third party to implement links or codes from them. At least I don't want fill my EW builded web site with extern services, that's not why i bought EverWeb. Also im not a fan to solve it with .htaccess. So, if it's already implemented a feature like password protection, just would be nice to set some more option on it. (incl. usage for standalone users). Regards Last edit 11 years ago |

By publishing to you own choice of host you are using an external service. As I pointed out in my reply to your post in another topic, password protection is set up on the server. If you choose to publish to a server other than the EverWeb one, you will need to implement this yourself or get your hosting service to help you with it. EverWeb is just the same as Apple's iWeb in this respect where you need to publish to the tied hosting to be able to use certain features. If you choose to publish elsewhere then you can't have these services because they need certain files set up on the server. The EverWeb developers don't have access to your server so you have to do it yourself. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Quote: Please make it possible for standalone EW users to use and work with the password protection feature too. Since password protection requires certain server configuration it isn't possible to support third party web hosting providers. That should help in this situation. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Hello Paul, I really liked the Idea to build password protected directories without sub pages, to solve the problem, but it didn't worked by me.. With converting my client pages to directories without sub pages, the pw-protections don't work and I don't know why. Could it be the reason that I am using the standalone version? |

Quote: Could it be the reason that I am using the standalone version? Yes, you need EverWeb + Hosting to use password protection. You can upgrade by following the instructions here. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
