Publishing problems - two issues out of the blue

User: Adam B. 11 years ago
Hello Everweb folk,

After finally deciding to go with Everweb after giving in and abandoning iWeb, I am not even 24 hours into my purchase and I'm freaking out. Out of the blue I have TWO issues that block two different sites from publishing. I publish to FTP server and everything was peachy until this morning. Please help asap. I can not go forward until I am confident this program will hold up. My website is enormous and I can not afford to waste time on something not solid.

ISSUES (Evernote 1.5: Build 1267)

#1) Press publish, everything seems okay, then I get the message "An Error Occurred... Type is now ASCII". Screenshot below. It then asks me if I want to force quit or continue and risk using an unable program.

#2) If the above issue wasn't enough, I started a second test site and everything went fine with the publishing process. No errors. Just... waiting... no little timer showing me how much longer. Nothing. Everweb just seems to forget I really meant publish. :)

So what is going on? Yesterday I published repeatedly with no issues. Life was good. Today all of this. I restarted the computer and both of the issues above were repeated. So I have no solution and am desperate. Thanks in advance if you can tell my what's going on.

Have you tried publishing your site to a local folder and testing it in the browser? If that works out OK it means that the problem could be the way in which your server is configured.
You can also try uploading the published files to the server using an FTP app. That will show whether the problem is with the EverWeb FTP or the server.

Hi Roddy. Great idea. The files do publish fine to a local folder and the site opens fine in a browser. The configuration is no the issue because I duplicated the specs and uploaded another EverWeb project to my server just fine. The problem has to be a problem with the EverWeb file I created itself. There is no other possibility that makes sense.

Again, thanks for the help!
