Preview Error

User: Carol Ann L. 11 years ago
There is no application set to open the URL internal://D77EBB989B4846E2A86FA8C9AB8CF712.

When trying to move through the pages in the navigation bar to check the site before publishing, I have been getting this error message in "Preview." It doesn't happen all the time and I've made sure my Internet connection is working properly. Any ideas why this is happening sometime? I'm using Safari on a MacBook Pro on Mountain Lion.

This is the error message I got when I used Mozilla Firefox. It brings up the first page in both Safari and Firefox but when I click on a different page on the navigation bar, I get these error messages.

The address wasn't understood

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (internal) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.

You might need to install other software to open this address.

Did you publish your website online? If so, what is your URL?

What version of EverWeb are you using?

I am using the latest version of EverWeb Version 1.5 Build 1267. I was trying to Preview the site before publishing. I cleared out all cookies and site info in Safari, hardly use Mozilla Firefox so I didn't do it there.

Are you able to publish your website somewhere?

That just means that EverWeb didn't correctly convert one of your links while publishing. If you can't, we'll need you to send us your project file.

I just published the site and all was well until I got to the fourth page in the navigation bar and then got the error. How do I send you my project file?

Also, I am not receiving the notifications that you are responding to this query. Is there a leprechaun in my computer? The box is checked.

When logging into the published site from IPad, it tells me it cannot open the page because the address is incorrect. The navigation addresses were automatically generated by EverWeb.

These forums have been acting strangely for me. I always turn of notifications. What I have been noticing is threads being added to, but no update of the new posts from outside the thread.

Update: The published site works on a Windows computer (all pages can be seen). It still does not work on my MacBook Pro in "Preview". I have redone all the pages (i.e.: new template and re-design of the pages thinking perhaps there was a blip in the original template) but this had no effect. It seems that the first 3 pages load properly but then the last 3 pages tell me they cannot load with the same error message I sent earlier. Please give me an email address to send the files that I have saved to a desktop folder so you can review them for me. PLEASE! Publication should be this weekend. By the way, I am publishing through Cyberduck to a private network.

Second time on Windows using Mozilla Firefox, it did not work. Chrome worked first time, did not work second time.

Could EverWeb have a corruption on my computer? Should I download it again and re-install it?

Would correcting a problem with Dropbox affect EverWeb? I upgraded Dropbox and it seems that after that is when my problems with EverWeb began. It may be coincidental but I figured I'd let you decide. Here are the directions to change lines within Terminal that I made:

If you're having trouble running Dropbox on your Mac after installation then please try these steps and then restart Dropbox.

1. Stop Dropbox (If needed):

- Click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen
- Click on the gear icon in the Notifications panel and select 'Quit Dropbox'

2. Download the newest version:

www.dropbox.com/install

3. Open your Terminal app (Located at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal)

4. Copy and paste the following lines into the Terminal, ONE AT A TIME, and press ENTER after each one. Make sure you copy and paste these commands to ensure accuracy! You'll be prompted for your computer's admin password (not your Dropbox password) after entering the first command. Keep in mind that the password field in the terminal will remain blank as you type your password. After you type it, just press ENTER.
Please note that you could see an error message regarding the existence of the folder ".dropbox-master" when you run the fifth of the following lines. This is completely normal and you can go on with the next line.

sudo chown "$USER" "$HOME"

sudo chown -R "$USER" ~/Dropbox

sudo chmod -R u+rw ~/Dropbox

sudo mv ~/.dropbox ~/.Trash/dropbox.old

sudo mv ~/.dropbox-master ~/.Trash/dropbox-master.old

sudo chmod -N ~

sudo mv /Library/DropboxHelperTools ~/DropboxHelperTools.old

5. Open the .dmg file from step # 2 and double click the Dropbox icon to install Dropbox.

6. Restart Dropbox from the Applications folder.

Roddy, there are no EverWeb files within Dropbox. I mentioned the problem I had been having with Dropbox because it was after that I began having problems with EverWeb. I thought that perhaps the changes the technician had me make in Terminal may have inadvertently changed something with EverWeb. I have opened a ticket and I hope I can get this resolved quickly. Thank you so much for your assistance.
