Viewing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Enhanced Visibility

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Enhanced Visibility

User: Mark S. 9 years ago
Hosting companies often offer SEO for zero to $3 per month and it seems that it is dedicated to each domain or website. If you have two websites, one needs two purchases. EverWeb is said to have a feature to enhance visibility on search engines.

SEO Using EverWeb

1. Is the EverWeb SEO as good, easy, and comprehensive as the other ones, such as GoDaddy ?

2. It seems that the EverWeb SEO will work on any website constructed with EverWeb, hence one doesn't need to make more than one purchase. Correct ?

3. How does one check to see if SEO is effective ?

A hosting company cannot optimize your site for search engines.
SEO is not something that can applied after the website has been created. It is carried out by the person who creates the page content.

The hierarchy of keywords is explained HERE.

Media content needs to be accompanied by text descriptions since the search engine spiders can't look at the images or watch the movies.

Once the search engines have been notified of the existence of the website and the sitemap.xml has been submitted, they will index the website pages. You can test the effectiveness of these optimizations by entering your choice of keywords into a search.

He might mean this, from EW main page, it is kind of confusing wording.

*So your awesome website is online, how do you get people to find it?

EverWeb has built in search engine optimization features to help your website get noticed. All EverWeb users get access to our FREE Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for EverWeb video tutorials*

Precisely. Thank you.

So it seems that any and I websites I were to create with EverWeb can have the SEO used, and unlike other hosting sites and domain registration sites, there's no additional charge per website. Correct ?

Roddy, what you state doesn't seem to be correct for at least two reasons:

1. There are apps available to test a website, like SEO Spyglass

2. At GoDaddy, when signing up for a domain or for web hosting, "Web Visibility" and "SEO" are available and can be assigned to a domain. It checks websites after they are visible.GoDaddy SEO

The effectiveness of optimization for search engines depends on the site structure and the layout of the individual pages with regard to the hierarchy of the keywords.

Before opening your web design app you need to plan the whole site, group the related pages together in directories and effectively describe the overall concept in the home page.

Then you create the individual pages and insert the keywords in their order of importance in the file name, page name, title tag, HTML headings and on down to the paragraphs.
The spiders depend on text so each image, movie and music file must have descriptive text and, in the case of images, alternative text or a figcaption - or both!

By the time GoDaddy SEO gets to look at your site it's way too late and it can only tell you what you didn't do.

Roddy:

So you are indicating that with EverWeb the SEO needs to be run BEFORE the site is published ? But once published and visible, the site can be modified by SEO, right ? So it is really not "too late" (as with GoDaddy), but the site would need further work to optimize.

Can EverWeb's SEO be run on many self-constructed websites at no additional charge ?

What's the effectiveness of EverWeb's compared to GoDaddy's ?

SEO is not something you "run". It is not a magic button you press to make a website easy to find and be indexed by the search engines.

SEO is all about the text content of your website and using keywords effectively in the file name, page name, title tag, and on down through the levels of HTML headings to the paragraphs.

EverWeb allows you to enter a descriptive site name and page file name in the left column, another descriptive page name in the navigation menu, the title tag and page description in the Page inspector and to insert HTML headings using the HTML Snippet. That's what SEO is all about.

It's up to you, the webmaster, to use appropriate keywords in the keyword hierarchy and text content of each page. Appropriate means that they are the most likely words that a potential visitor will enter into a search when they are looking for a page with the info they require.

Imagine I had a photography website called myphotography.com with a page called "photos" with a slideshow or a bunch of images. Nobody would find this page because there's absolutely nothing for the SE spiders to index and no keywords for them to match with a potential visitor's search criteria. GoDaddy SEO will tell this and you will have to go back and recreate your website using relevant keywords in the appropriate places.

Okay. Good explanation. Is there a program which will automatically insert these items into the webpage ? Once a website is built with EverWeb, may we pay you to optimize the website ?
User: Roddy 9 years ago
There isn't any program for inserting these items since they go into the content which you create.

Yes, the first half.

Please compare and contrast your SEO product to GoDaddy's SEO product.

It would be nice to have an SEO program which actually makes those changes on the website template for approval before submission.

Ideally, we should study SEO and understand the fundamentals before attempting to create a website. Most of us learn through trial and error and bitter experience!

Only those involved in the design of the actual web page can decide what keywords are representative of the page content. Web pages are ranked for their relevance to a given combination of words entered into a search. The trick is in knowing what words your potential visitors are going to enter into a search.

How successful you are at optimizing your site will depend on the competition. Look to see what brings their page up higher in a search than yours.

Have a look to see how they used the keywords you entered into the search and where they placed them in the hierarchy of the page document.

The SEO video was produced by Rage Software - not me. It's an instructional video on how to optimize the pages of your website - not a product that will do it for you!

I'd like a product which will do it for me. Any suggestions ?
