[quote name=Mark S. time=09/08/2014 21:49:14]Can I use a "Shape" as a text box? How do I change its fill or line color? You can with a text box over the shape. Create the shape you want - set its color using the color selector.. Create a text box and put what you want in it. The text needs to be a contrasting color of the underneath shape. With the text box selected, chose ARRANGE from the top menu and MOVE TO FRONT. This will keep the text box on top of the shape. Move the text box to over the shape. If you want, select both the shape and text box and ARRANGE again and click on GROUP. This keep everything together as one unit. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |

Thank you, Mr. Courtney. I tried, and did not succeed. Not certain what you are indicating. Furthermore, I cannot change the colors. Is there a video demonstrating what you are describing ? Is anyone else having trouble changing colors ? I can change background colors, but nothing else. Can't change link colors either (as posted in a nearby thread).

EverWeb can be a bit "different" when you first start using it. I was lost for the first week or so. Let's try it this way. Assuming you are using the latest version of the program. 1. Click on the SHAPE button. 2. That puts a shape on the page. 3. Open INSPECTOR (upper right) 4. Click on the icon second from the left. (A square and circle) 5. This shows the color the shape is now and can be used anytime the shape is selected to change it. 6. Size the shape and put it where you want it to go. --- moving to text ---- 1. Open a text box and put what you want it in. 2. Highlight the text 3. Open INSPECTOR and select 4th icon from left (large T) You'll see settings for color and alignment of the text. Adjust as desired keeping in mind the text color needs to be something that works with the shape color. ----------- putting it all together ----------- 1. With the text box selected, select the ARRANGE item from the top bar menu. 2. Click on BRING TO FRONT. This makes sure the text box is in front of the shape so it can be seen. 3. If the size and position of the shape needs adjusting, do it now. 4. Go back and select and drag the text box so it sits over the shape. I have examples on the home page here: rhsclassof69 - dot - com. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |

WOW! Awesome. Stupendous. Very few people can give such clear/concise instructions as you. Never would have been able to do it without your help. You must be commissioned to do the documentation for EverWeb. EverWeb seems more powerful, but iWeb was more "intuitive" and no documentation was needed. You call it "different". I enjoy programs in which little or no documentation is required. -----> • If not answered in the other thread, please explain how to make a variable height vertical line, such as one needed to separate columns of text. -----> • Your website rhsclassof69 has excellent responsive drop down menus. With which program did you do that and how is that done ? Last edit 11 years ago |

Using shapes for backgrounds is not the best way since every one creates another image to be downloaded in the browser. You will find widgets to create shapes HERE where there are also two widgets for creating horizontal and vertical lines. A better way to create columns is to use the Text Columns widget which allows the columns to balance themselves automatically and provides the option for a variable width rule which divides them. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! One needs to pay for a widget in order to make lines ? $78 of widgets. They cost as much as the App. There's no button to download the last set, animation. Is there a video or text description of what each widget is supposed to do ? I'd like nice vertical lines, moving gifs, and maybe Flash logos. Last edit 11 years ago |

No, you don't need a widget to create lines. EverWeb has a line option in the shapes menu. It's just better to insert shapes using HTML/CSS rather than images to improve page download time. Every widget has a page with a demo and instructions. Any of the image insert widgets will insert GIFs and flash is pretty much obsolete since it isn't supported in iOS. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! [quote name=Mark S. time=10/08/2014 1:09:57] Your website rhsclassof69 has excellent responsive drop down menus. With which program did you do that and how is that done ? The drop down menu is created by EverWeb. There are video tutorials for it on the EverWeb site. I would suggest your make a menu and fiddle with it to get an idea of what-does-what. Every page you create has an INSPECTOR box to check that makes it visible on the menu. Make sure they are checked. EverWeb is still a young program that's getting better all the time. I moved an iWeb web to it a couple of months ago for a client and it's already had 2 or 3 new versions. It's got some rough edges but once you get a feel for it you can whip stuff up very quickly. I strongly suggest you just play with it for a while to get a feel for what you can do.
