Viewing ASAP: Code Widget

ASAP: Code Widget

I am needing a nice quick and freeform blogging platform that EverWeb offers for building a site about "coding adventures" for a development framework in Ruby. I was about to go with an old standby of Octopress or even WordPress, but realized that EverWeb would be perfect for this as it would allow for tremendous rapid and convenient control of layout and so forth. The thing that I've found lacking, though, is how to format the code elegantly and *conveniently*.

I would very much like to use Markdown within these posts for formatting.

A nice example of what I'm going for is the following: http://cl.ly/image/1Z1a0d2z0C2d

Note: The title is just text and the code inside is likewise just selectable text. Further it would allow color styling to match the rest of the site design. I think the way to do this would be in the widget to simply allow us to pick a default header, content and footer image for the background of the widget and/or CSS and then we could just copy and paste them, replacing the code each time to preserve formatting for each instantiated widget.

This would be exceptionally helpful if you could add this absolutely as soon as possible! :)

Also, if we are able to make our own widgets, I'd certainly be willing to take a stab at helping to implement one if you'd like to advise as to how to go about it.
