Viewing External Files

External Files

User: Roddy 11 years ago
The crash that occurred when adding/deleting external files is cured.

Adding an external file in EW doesn't appear to add it to the published folder. If I add a file to the ewExternalFiles folder and reference it in EasyWeb the published version of my Widget works but, of course, its not viewable in the app.

I can't upload any files to the equivalent folder on the server as I can't access the control panel or do it via FTP since my login is still invalid and I don't know the IP address.

Ok so what we need is a way to publish EasyWeb assets even if they are unused in the app (or if they are referenced from the HTML Widget). Let me see what I can come up with...

Yes please!

As a matter of interest, can files be uploaded to the EasyWeb server using FTP or do they have to go via the app?

On the topic of external files, I now have an issue which concerns retina images. I have a small poster image which I'd like to link to a bigger size of the same poster. I can hyperlink it and link to a file but I'm only given one choice of files to go to. How do I also include my @2x jpg? Assumedly, I can add that image to the ewExternalFiles folder via my ftp. But it's an extra step to remember.

If you wanted the user to download it via a hyperlink there would be no way to detect whether or not to make them download the retina version on a retina mac. You would have to provide two download links no matter what. If you just wanted it to be displayed in their browser, make another page and link to that page with the retina and non retina version.
